U.S. Embassy Riga Coin

U.S. Embassy Riga Coin

U.S. Embassy Riga Coin

In 1991 the United States officially acknowledged Latvia’s independence from the defunct Soviet Union and established a new embassy in Riga. Construction on a new embassy compound was completed in 2011. Since regaining its independence, Latvia has embraced democracy and the principles of an open market.

The interwar period consolidated the diplomatic relations between the two countries, and several bilateral agreements were signed. Despite the Great Depression of 1929 and the considerable geographical distance, economic, trade, and cultural relations were established.

We were commissioned to build the U.S. Embassy in Riga a custom challenge coin. The coin was going to be awarded to the Diplomatic Security Service special agents assigned there. They wanted the coin to be a beautiful memento that represents the identity of the United States and Latvia.

On one side of the coin, we engraved a red & white Latvian pattern as the background. the Latvian pattern symbolizes the imbuement of the world around us with personality and purpose, protecting us, harmonizing energies, and promoting prosperity, fertility, and good fortune, synchronizing to the rhythms of the seasons.

On the other side, we made a relief of the famous Freedom Monument of Riga, with the background of The United States and Latvia flags engraved and colored next to each other.

Southern Police Institute Coin

The Southern Police Institute is a division of the Department of Criminal Justice, College of Arts and Sciences, University of Louisville. Beginning in 1951, the success of thousands of graduates provides ample evidence of the wisdom of this enterprise. Its mission is to enhance the professional development of law enforcement practitioners.

Since the creation of the Southern Police Institute, the program of instruction has been grounded in the belief that law enforcement is a demanding activity requiring the highest level of professional preparation. The unique course offerings and exceptionally well-planned instruction in the Southern Police Institute appeal to student officers throughout the United States.

We were ordered by the Southern Police Institute of Clermont, Florida, to manufacture their custom challenge coin. The challenge coin was built for the SPI Command Officers who were involved in the ‘Session 91’ development course. They wanted something classic, classy, and memorable to be awarded to them.

The coin was sculpted on both sides with the logo of SPI and the logo of Session 91. The front side of the coin was designed with the traditional design of a logo encircled with inscriptions. The rim of the back side of the coin was decorated with a unique pattern of tiny rectangles, made precisely by our computerized machine.

United States Marshal Service Coin

United States Marshal Service Coin

The United States Marshals Service (USMS) is the nation’s first and most versatile Federal law enforcement agency. It is a federal law enforcement agency or bureau within the U.S. Department of Justice, operating under the direction of the attorney general, but serves as the enforcement arm of the U.S. federal courts to ensure the effective operation of the judiciary and integrity of the Constitution.

The USMS occupies a uniquely central position in the federal justice system by being involved in virtually every federal law enforcement initiative. They are responsible for apprehending wanted fugitives, providing protection for the federal judiciary, transporting federal prisoners, protecting endangered federal witnesses, and managing assets seized from criminal enterprises.

We were reached by the USMS when they wanted to produce the custom challenge coin for their Organized Crime and Gangs unit. They gave us a straightforward and clear design, a U.S., Marshal star badge on one side of the coin, and the logo for the unit on the other.

For the side with the star badge, we only colored the inscriptions on the rim and the eagle & shield image on the center of the star and left the other areas unpainted to show a bare metal effect. On the other side, we had the unit logo full-colored with beautiful glossy paints.

Rear Admiral Challenge Coin

Rear Admiral Challenge Coin

Rear Admiral Challenge Coin

A Rear Admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, equivalent to a major general or divisional general and air vice marshal and above that of a commodore and captain, but below that of a vice admiral. A rear admiral may command a fleet of Navy ships, submarines, or air wings. Rear admirals can also direct the overall planning and movement of their fleet. In addition, they can assist vice admirals in performing their duties.

Rear admiral is equivalent to the rank of major general in the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Space Force. It is the highest permanent rank during peacetime in the uniformed services. In most European navies, the equivalent rank is called counter admiral.

We had a chance to craft a beautiful custom challenge coin for a Rear Admiral from the U.S. Navy Office of Information. It was a traditional Navy coin design with the execution of cutting-edge technology of the modern time. One side is simply with a relatively big star image sculpted there, and the other is the insignia of the USN Office of Information.

The finish for the base metal component of the coin was a dark brass color, with some painted shadow rendering to add depth to the engraved elements and inscriptions.

Supply Officer Challenge Coin

Supply Officer Challenge Coin

Supply Officer Challenge Coin

U.S. Navy Supply Officers are sometimes colloquially called “SuppO,” although this term is technically reserved for the Department Head, who is nearly always the senior Supply Corps officer at a command. They are also colloquially called “pork chops”, this nickname references the shape of the oak leaf insignia found on officers’ sleeves and collars, as it vaguely looks like a pork chop.

Commissioned officers in the Supply Corps practice a variety of disciplines, including supply management, expeditionary logistics, inventory control, disbursement, financial management, contracting, information systems, operations analysis, material and operational logistics, fuels management, food service, and physical distribution.

We were given the task of building a custom challenge coin for the Supply Officer of the USS Nimitz. The design concept that they requested was bold, classic, and exquisite. They wanted to put the image and the insignia of the USS Nimitz on the fields of the coin.

As with our other custom products, firstly the concert design is applied and refined by our graphic designers. A lot of times we also give our clients some alternatives or variants for them to choose from. Once the design is approved and finalized, we will have our computerized production machine to apply it to the chosen base material for the product. Finally, we will apply the finishing touch to the machined product, such as giving it layers of paint and protection or having it brushed for a pretty bare metal effect.
