Dragon Challenge Coin

This one of the most unique custom challenge coin we’ve ever designed and produced. Not everyone want a typical and common challenge coin for their squad or their team. Once in a while you get a request to make an extraordinary coin that has outlandish shape, like this Dragon Challenge Coin. While it is a challenge to manufacture that kind of composition, it always give us a great amusement to get out of the routine once in a while.

The first challenge is to create the base coin in shape of a dragon. Not just the outlines, but also the figure of the dragon such as the limbs and everything, need to be sculpted and also seen on both sides, so this dragon image was almost three dimensional in geometry. To give the dragon an alluring details, we also designed the scales for the wings to be sculpted and painted. Finally we put the American Eagle insignia on one side and a banner with letters on the other.

You can see in the pictures that this is definitely not your ordinary challenge coin. The details on the embossed & painted eagle is as beautiful as the golden dragon encircling it. The red painted wings give a nice accent on the overall look of one-of-a-kind token.

Special Operations Challenge Coin

The new U.S. special operations command created to help Mexico combat drug traffickers was allegedly conceived, in part, to bolster President Obama’s reelection campaign, according to defense analysts reportedly involved in the effort. The creation of Special Operations Command-North was designed to bring Northern Command on par with other regional commands that already have a special forces component attached to them. Specifically, American military trainers attached to the new special-forces counternarcotics hub will school Mexican military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on how to track and target key traffickers within the country’s numerous drug cartels.

The concept for the coin we designed for this Special Operation is pretty simple: Something that represent the USA and Mexico cooperation, designed with graphics and artwork that would symbolize both countries. We put the Map of Mexico and an engraving of an Aztec Warrior Skull on the other. The colors that we use are just for the Mexican flag and the Compass, other elements are just brushed metal.

You can see for yourself how the engraving of the Aztec Warrior is just superb, you can see the small details of the feathers, and the rope pattern on the edge of the coin. This monochromic challenge coin looks very classy and ethnically beautiful.

State Trooper Challenge Coin

This custom State Trooper Challenge Coin is reserved bay the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol. The Nevada State Police is the highway patrol agency for Nevada and has jurisdiction anywhere within the state. The headquarters is located in Carson City with regional commands in Reno, Elko and Las Vegas. The Nevada State Police is a division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

This State Trooper Challenge Coin should be a simple one, but does not mean that designing it would be an easy task. ‘Less is More’ they say, to be exact this phrase is made famous by the legendary architect Mies van der Rohe. He said that to design something so simple, it involves stripping a design down to its bare essentials, and casting aside any elements that do not contribute to the pure beauty or function of an object or space. And that’s what we did when we designed this coin.

No excessive engraving and pattern, even on the edge of the coin. Just the logo of the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol on one side, and the Nevada State symbol with United States flag as background, on the other. Simple blocky font for the engraved letterings, and using only 4 colors for all the details, this is one of the best looking ‘Less is More’ coin that we’ve ever made.

Navy Anchor Challenge Coin

NMRTC or Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command of Bremerton is a community-based acute care and obstetrical hospital, offering expert primary care, urgent care and a broad range of outpatient/same day medical and surgical specialties. NMRTC is comprised predominantly of military members that support Naval Hospital Bremerton.

They ordered a custom Navy Anchor challenge coin that would represent the spirit of NMRTC, which is to provide numerous medical services and training for the Navy and Marine Corps, and they also want the overall look of the coin to be distinctive, while still showing the classic look of the Navy Anchor. So, we decided to combine the basic shape of the navy Anchor, with the modern graphics of their facility and hospital themed artwork.

And what we get is an amazing piece of artwork. The brushed bronze color of the coin gives a modern monochromatic nuance, the detailed and painted body organ graphics give enough nice accent without being overwhelming. The sculpted anchor, the rope pattern edge, and the engraved image of the facility added the classical element to this beautiful challenge coin.

Military Police K9 Challenge Coin

Arlington Police Department currently has two canines, Oso and Tara, who are drug detection dogs. Handlers are trained to work with their canine partners and provide for their care and feeding. Both the handlers and their dogs go through extensive training to ensure they are both prepared to handle the work conditions they face. Because of their work ethic and commitment to public safety, both the handlers and their police dogs are prepared to be on-call whenever their services are needed.

So we decided to do something special and extraordinary when they asked us to make an Oso custom challenge coin. We used a canine paw print as the base shape of the coin, and put Oso’s image and Arlington PD logo on the sides of it. We also designed some graphic elements such as American flag for the background. With these many distinctive elements, we choose to only use minimum colors as accents, so the carved images would look more solid.

We couldn’t be happier with the end result. The shape and the brushed-silver color of the coin is just perfectly done. The details on Oso’s sculpture and embossed logo are all flawless. And the 3-colors paint gives a really nice accent to the overall design of this unique challenge coin.
