FCI Pekin Challenge Coin

Federal Correctional Institution Pekin, also known as FCI Pekin, is a medium-security federal prison located in Pekin, Illinois. . It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. As of 1994, the FCI Pekin minimum security complex was composed of two dormitories and a central compound with classrooms, office buildings, and recreation buildings surrounded by grass

The facility houses male inmates, while the female inmates are housed at the camp which is located adjacent to the main institution. FCI Pekin is a Low-Security prison, with a population of 1,119 total Inmates (999 Inmates at the FCI, 120 Inmates at the Camp). The prison camp population often did volunteer work around the community.

We manufactured a unique custom challenge coin for FCI Pekin, shaped like an arrow and has the front side fully painted and colored, while the back side is left without any colors but engraved with some inscriptions.

The FCI Pekin’s logo was embossed on the front side, with some letterings etched around it, all of them were machined and colored very nicely. The back of the coin has some engraved letterings of a part of a poem by Michael Marks “The Monsters and The Weak”, and was polished to let the base material shines.

FACSFAC San Diego Coin

FACSFAC or Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility is the scheduling and coordination agency for air, surface, and subsurface activity in the California offshore ranges and operations airspace off the coasts of San Diego and San Francisco. The primary mission of FACSFAC is to provide the scheduling, coordination, and control necessary for the complex naval operations of today.

FACSFAC San Diego, located primarily at Naval Air Station North Island, is responsible for the management and scheduling of designated military offshore operating areas in South and North California. Hosted onboard NAS North Island, it is the Navy’s primary facility for scheduling, surveillance, and control of diverse air, surface, and subsurface activity on the West Coast.

They requested us to design and manufacture a special custom challenge coin, that was shaped like a US Navy wing. ON the front side they wanted an Air Warfare emblem, and on the back side, they wanted to put US Navy insignia and the logos of FACSFAC and FACSFAC San Diego.

The wing-shaped challenge coin has some petite details that needed to be fabricated with our machine, such as the feathers, the small logos and insignias, the tiny inscriptions, and also the diamond plate pattern on the back of the coin. We’re glad that we could execute everything perfectly.

ECI’s commitment to service excellence is reflected in its long-term partnerships with our government clients. ECI has provided Explosive Detection Canine Team Services to many of its government clients for more than a decade. They have provided explosive countermeasures specialty services for close to 30 years with over 20 years providing complex canine support services across a dynamic threat matrix.

The custom challenge coin they ordered from us is one of the cleanest and most raw-looking coins we ever produced. They didn’t want any colors and paint on it, and they also didn’t want overwhelming engravings and patterns on the coin’s surfaces. The elements they asked us to put on the sides of the coin were their emblem and the K9 Team insignia.

Without any paints, we needed to be sure that the cut and machined elements of the design are all executed perfectly, All the graphic details and lines needed to be engraved at the right heights so they will have beautiful 3D effects. And all of the surfaces need to be properly brushed and polished so the coin has the right tone.

Coventry Police Challenge Coin

Coventry is a town in Kent County, Rhode Island. It was first settled by English colonists in the early 18th century, and now is Rhode Island’s largest town, has an area of 64.8 square miles and a population of over 33,000.

The Town of Coventry’s Police is a full-service, municipal law enforcement agency whose mission is to fulfill the law enforcement needs of the people. Its mission is to protect and connect with the community we serve, enhance public safety, and reduce the incidents and fear of crime.

They requested a classic and traditional challenge coin, with a sculpted image of an anchor with a US Flag background on one side, and the Coventry Police Coat of Arms embossed on the other side. The elephant image on the Coat of Arms had a religious symbolism. The elephant is seen, not only as a beast so strong that he can carry a tower–Coventry’s castle–full of armed men but also as a symbol of Christ’s redemption of the human race.

While the design concept sounds simple, we needed to make sure that every detail was machined flawlessly. The anchor was engraved beautifully, and you can see in the photo that the elephant image has little details etched nicely on the coin.

Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 40 (VRC-40), also known as FLELOGSUPPRON FOUR ZERO, and also nicknamed the “Rawhides”, is a United States Navy fleet logistics support squadron based at NS Norfolk. VRC-40’s mission is to provide airborne logistics support to underway aircraft carriers and secondary missions as directed by Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic.

VRC-40 supports the fleet from ships and bases as far north as Norway, down the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf Coast, throughout the Caribbean, in Central and South America, and all over the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern theaters. They maintain and fly the squadron’s 14 aircraft, and have nearly 400 enlisted personnel, 31 officers, and 21 chief petty officers.

The insignia of VCR-40 is a cowboy riding a horse with a sunset background, over a sea with a Navy ship sailing in it. They asked us to take that image from their insignia to be fabricated into a challenge coin. And not just imprinting the graphic to the coin, but shaping the coin like the cowboy and the Navy ship.

It was a challenging task for us, but the result was definitely not your casual challenge coin. It’s a wonderful, one-of-a-kind, and distinctive custom challenge coin which really only the Rawhides can have.
