Warrior Tribe Foundation (WTF) was born through two men taking action and accepting responsibility for something that was not even theirs to accept, but they did so anyway because, at that time, no one else was going to do it. Their mission is to preserve lives through rebuilding community and a life-long commitment to a common mission and purpose.

With the rising suicides of Second Battalion, Seventh Marines (V27) and the similarities with drug addiction, alcoholism, and self-destruction also affecting Second Battalion, Third Marines (V23) these men began to reach out to others and the tribe grew. The WTF is connecting military members, veterans, first responders, and their families to a network of like-minded warriors who are committed to selfless service.

We were given the task of building a custom challenge coin for WTF. They requested a clean, simple, and unsophisticated design, with only their logo on the front side, and their mission inscribed on the back.

The coin has a smooth edge and a clean rim, without machined patterns or decorations. Their cool logo was engraved and painted with its own colors, done by our computerized digital design and manufacturing process. The inscription of the WTF’s mission was also done by our graphic designers and carved with a calculated height so it could be read easily.

VMF-218 Challenge Coin

Marine Fighting Squadron 218 (VMF-218) operated the F4U Corsair in the South Pacific (SOPAC) during World War II. It was a reserve fighter squadron of the United States Marine Corps that was originally activated during World War II. The squadron was reactivated in the Marine Corps Reserve in the 1950s and was based out of Naval Air Station Willow Grove near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

VMF-218 was organized at Marine Corps Air Station Mojave, California on July 1, 1943, and officially commissioned on September 15, 1943. Their first combat action took place on February 15 when they covered the allied landing on Green Island, and during their time there, the squadron was one of a number of Marine squadrons that let a then civilian contractor Charles Lindbergh fly strikes against the Japanese garrison at Rabaul.

We had the chance to craft one of the most awesome custom challenge coins we’ve ever done. The concept design of the challenge coin was shaped like a skull with wings on the sides.

A couple of dragon heads and an aircraft were engraved around the skull for the front side of the coin, while on the back we sculpted a shield and a sword. This coin is truly exceptional and looks like a piece of art.

VFW Department Challenge Coin

VFW Department Challenge Coin

VFW Department Challenge Coin

VFW, or The Veterans of Foreign Wars, is an organization of U.S. war veterans, who fought in wars, campaigns, and expeditions on foreign land, waters, or airspace as military service members. Formally the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the United States, the organization was established twice separately, once by James C. Putnam on September 29, 1899, in Columbus, Ohio.

The purpose of the VFW is to speed up the rehabilitation of the nation’s disabled and needy veterans, assist veterans’ widows and orphans and dependents of needy or disabled veterans, and promote Americanism by means of education in patriotism and by constructive service to local communities.

The VFW Department of Oregon contacted us when they wanted a challenge coin exclusively built for them. They wanted an elegant and timeless design for their challenge coin, so our graphic designers designed the layout and graphics needed to be approved and run to our workshop.

The coin design had no graphics or aesthetic elements other than their logo and the armed forces insignias. You can see in the photos that those graphic symbols etched into the coin were so small, but our state-of-the-art machinery could execute the details in such a tiny space. The result is one bright and elegant challenge coin.

VAQ-139 Challenge Coin

VAQ-139 Challenge Coin

The Cougars of VAQ-139 (Electromagnetic Attack Squadron 139) became operational on 1 July 1983 under the command of CDR Richard A. Clark while flying the ICAP (Improved Capability) EA-6B Prowler. They specialize in electromagnetic attack and are currently stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington.

The EA-18G Growler aircraft they fly represents the most advanced technology in airborne Electronic Attack and stands as the Navy’s first line of defense in hostile environments. The EA-18G’s vast array of sensors and weapons provides the warfighter with a lethal and survivable weapon system to counter current and emerging threats.

The Cougars wanted an extraordinary custom challenge coin and they reached us and told us their ideas. They wanted a challenge coin in the shape of a cougar’s paw, decorated with some cool graphic designs and symbols engraved on it. We always welcome unorthodox and different ideas because they challenge us to create interesting and refreshing products.

This big-cat-paw-shaped coin was made to look more thrilling with a colored relief of a cougar on it. The illustration of a cougar was developed by our graphic designers and machined by our cutting-edge equipment. Same thing with the insignias and symbols on the back of the coin, they were all placed and inscribed beautifully.

Supply Corps Challenge Coin

USS Lousiana (SSBN 743) is the 18th and last submarine of the Ohio class of ballistic missile submarines, and the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear the name. She carries Trident ballistic missiles and has been in commission since 1997. Louisiana’s first home port was Kings Bay. Her commissioning gave Kings Bay its planned full complement of 10 ballistic missile submarines.

USS Louisiana was honored by the U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) as the recipient of the 2006 Omaha Trophy for excellence in strategic deterrence. The next year, 2007, Lousiana received both the Battle Efficiency Award and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

We had the opportunity to build a custom challenge coin for the USS Louisiana’s Commanding Officer. We were requested to design a golden shiny challenge coin, with an image inspired by the USS Louisiana’s crest. Other than that, the coin just needed to be engraved with a Star and the inscriptions of the name of the Commanding Officer.

The engraved image derived from the USS Louisiana’s crest was a perspectival image of the submarine itself, with the Louisiana state bird, a Pelican, in the background, along with a small-sized Submarine Warfare Insignia. The coin only used blue paint for most of the front side, and a bit of red on the pelican and the insignia.
