VFW Department Challenge Coin
VFW, or The Veterans of Foreign Wars, is an organization of U.S. war veterans, who fought in wars, campaigns, and expeditions on foreign land, waters, or airspace as military service members. Formally the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the United States, the organization was established twice separately, once by James C. Putnam on September 29, 1899, in Columbus, Ohio.
The purpose of the VFW is to speed up the rehabilitation of the nation’s disabled and needy veterans, assist veterans’ widows and orphans and dependents of needy or disabled veterans, and promote Americanism by means of education in patriotism and by constructive service to local communities.
The VFW Department of Oregon contacted us when they wanted a challenge coin exclusively built for them. They wanted an elegant and timeless design for their challenge coin, so our graphic designers designed the layout and graphics needed to be approved and run to our workshop.
The coin design had no graphics or aesthetic elements other than their logo and the armed forces insignias. You can see in the photos that those graphic symbols etched into the coin were so small, but our state-of-the-art machinery could execute the details in such a tiny space. The result is one bright and elegant challenge coin.
