The Dauntless Battalion traces its history to the Cadets of the Pennsylvania Military College (1821-1972), the Pioneer Battalion (1973-2005) and the Freedom Battalion (2005-2012). Widener University is the host with cadre also instructing at Villanova, and West Chester Universities. Widener’s ROTC cadre, Dauntless Battalion, produces the next generation of leaders in the Philadelphia area—helping students become the best version of themselves.

They wanted a challenge coin that represent themselves but not overwhelming in design, by using their logo’s non-ordinary outline to be used as the basic shape of the coin. Design-wise, this challenge coin is pretty much making sure that we have all the right letterings and insignias to be incorporated, and also choosing the perfect proportion so everything would be crafted flawlessly and can be shown clearly. Minimum use of colors with a bit of accent would be perfect for the design.

The final result is a very simple but representative challenge coin that they could be proud of. The shape of the coin is cut exquisitely, just like their original insignia. The glossy red paint on the background glows just right, and the embossed white letterings pops out of the coin with spot on engraved details, even the small ones are clearly noticeable.

USS Little Rock (LCS-9) is a Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS) of the United States Navy. She is the second ship named after Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas. Little Rock is comprised of two crews, Gold “Scorpions” and Blue “Warhawgs”. The Gold Scorpions are the one asked us to design and manufacture this astonishing piece of custom Navy Anchor challenge coin.

While most of the time people ask us to make a relatively common looking challenge coin to keep it simple or want to stay classy, this is not the case with the Little Rock’s Scorpions coin. They want something that is fun and extraordinary. They choose the Navy’s anchor as the base shape of the coin. They also requested to have a diamond plate background on one side of the coin, and a picture of an infamous video game character called ‘Scorpion’ on the other side. And they also want the coin to function as a bottle opener. While it’s not an easy work, we were actually having fun designing this cool coin!

The finished coin pictures could describe better than hundred words. The golden anchor, the sculpted chains, the engraved logos and images, are all imprinted and painted impeccably that all of them scream in a perfect harmony.

The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is an overseas military hospital operated by the U.S. Army. It is the largest American military hospital outside the continental United States. The hospital is located at Wilson Barracks (German: Kirchberg-Kaserne) in the German town of Landstuhl, and was the nearest treatment center for personnel wounded in the War on Terrorism. It serves members of the U.S. Armed Forces, military retirees and their eligible family members.

The Charlie Company of Landstuhl Regional Medical Center asked us produce a custom Army challenge coin for them. Something not common, unique, but also still has a classic vibe. They want to have the base shape of the coin to look like a shield, and with minimal elements to keep the overall design and layout to be modest. Only their logo and insignias to be placed on both of the sides of the coin, and minimal lettering on one side of it.

The choice of brushed dark grey color for the coin’s base material resulting in a very vintage looking challenge coin, yet still up-to-date, with the engraved graphics and simple crimson line on the edge of the coin. The perfectly embossed insignias, flags, and lettering make this coin a truly one-of-a-kind.

The GSC is a concerted effort by all satellite associations to come together to drive industry priorities with one voice, unlocking opportunities for industry growth and ensuring the future for millions of stakeholders who depend on satellite-based solutions. The GSC’s ultimate objective is to secure an ecosystem that allows every world citizen to be connected. GSC’s Cybersecurity is critical to the satellite industry’s core goal: providing mission critical, highly reliable, and secure connectivity.

Not surprising to us when they requested a custom coin challenge that look modern and up-to-date, something that represent their vision and mission, with technology and the latest inventions as their bread and butter. Contemporary graphic design, fashionable fonts, and voguish choice of colors, would be the basic elements that we have to mix carefully to generate a fitting design for them.

And what we have as a result is a very fancy and funky challenge coin that screams ‘technology savvy’ loudly: The Yin-Yang shaped background with the pop culture-ish graphics and elements, colored in black & white with an accent of red binary codes, and A big single U letter encircled in a bright green paint. This challenge coin could be one of the grooviest one we ever made

Operation Freedom Army Challenge Coin

Operation Freedom Army Challenge Coin

Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS) was the official name used by the U.S. government for the mission succeeding Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in continuation of the War in Afghanistan as part of the larger Global War on Terrorism. After thirteen years of Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S. military and NATO allies shifted focus from major military operations to a smaller role of NATO-led training and assistance. Operation Freedom Sentinel was expected to formally end on August 31, 2021, but concluded with the final withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan on August 30.

The OFS Signal Command division requested an exclusive but functional custom challenge coin. And we agreed to go design one that can also be used as a bottle opener. We wanted to make a pretty simple shape for the coin, but not too simple that it will become so ordinary, so we decided to combine a square shape with a circle, and then bevel the edges to make the outline looks smoother.

The result is a one-off challenge coin that looks and feels like a dog tag, and you can bring anywhere and use it as a practical bottle opener. If you look closely, you can see that the embossed insignias and lettering are perfectly manufactured that you can see each of them clearly. We are really happy to see that a functional item could look this beautiful.
