SECNAV Custom Belt Buckle

SECNAV Custom Belt Buckle

The Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) is a statutory officer and the Head (Chief Executive Officer) of the Department of the Navy, a military department within the United States Department of Defense. The Secretary also oversees the construction, outfitting, and repair of naval ships, equipment, and facilities.

SECNAV is responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and programs that are consistent with the national security policies and objectives established by the President and the Secretary of Defense. The Department of the Navy consists of two uniformed Services: the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.

We received a request from the Secretary’s office to build a custom belt buckle for them. They wanted something elegant and classy, but sturdy enough to be worn every day. The design concept that they gave us was pretty minimalistic, with not so many elements or decorations to be applied to the buckle.

We at Embleholics have several templates of custom belt buckles with different shapes and sizes. But if you don’t find anything that matches what you have in mind, our experienced designers and the computerized equipment we have in our workshop could handle almost every form and shape imaginable.

The handsome buckle you see on the right, while it looks exquisite and tailored, is actually very affordable and easy to produce.

Sanford Fire 150th Anniversary Coin

The Sanford Fire Department’s mission is to provide protection and prevention against the loss of life and property by fire, emergency services, and mitigation of hazards to the public. Through a collaborative and cooperative effort of dedicated professionals, they will strive for continual improvement of their services and personnel to provide quality services and develop the next generation of leaders to ensure long-term success.

In 2023, The Sanford Fire Department is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a mural ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will bring the community together to honor the men and women who have served the community over the last 150 years.

Other than the ceremony, they also gave challenge coins to all of the department’s crews, and we at Embleholics were given the trust to handle the design and the production of the special challenge coin. For the special 150th anniversary celebration, they wanted to have the challenge coin to be shaped like a vintage fire station bell.

We created the design of the fire station bell by having our experienced graphic designers make the layout and mock-up 2D images of both sides of the coin. After the design was approved, the digital images were sent through our computerized machine to start the construction of the custom coin.

Roswell Police Department Coin

Roswell Police Department Coin

Roswell Police Department Coin

Roswell is a town in Georgia with a population of 92,688. Roswell is in Fulton County and is one of the best places to live in Georgia. Roswell’s 640-acre Historic District is filled with the Southern Trilogy home tours, ghost walks, festivals, restaurants, theatre, arts, and fantastic shopping.

During the Civil War, the city was captured by Union forces under the leadership of General Kenner Garrard. Under orders of General Sherman, Garrard shipped the mill workers north to prevent them from returning to work if the mills were rebuilt. This was a common tactic of Sherman to economically disrupt the Confederate rebellion.

We were contacted by the Roswell Police Department to build their custom challenge coin. The Roswell PD serves and protects citizens and visitors within the city. The 200-employee department serves a population of almost 100,000 and 41.95 square miles of property.

They wanted an unusual and extraordinary design implemented to their challenge coin. As opposed to using a common round-shaped coin, they wanted it to be sculptured like a civic crown with a star-shaped badge on the center of it.

As you can see in the photos on the right, we had no problem shaping the base metal material into almost anything imaginable. From the organic curves of the crown to the tiny inscriptions in the insignias, our state-of-the-art equipment can execute the production flawlessly.

Retired Airborne Challenge Coin

Retired Airborne Challenge Coin

Retired Airborne Challenge Coin

In most cases, Soldiers who have completed 20 years of active service are eligible to receive Retired Pay at the end of their career. The Date of Initial Entry into Military Service (DIEMS) confirms which of the three retirement systems a Soldier falls under. Today, a recruit may enter the service at 17 years old and stay in service until age 65, for a total of 48 years of service.

The 82nd Airborne Division is an active airborne infantry division of the United States Army specializing in joint forcible entry operations. A U.S. Army airborne officer is responsible for leading and commanding airborne units. They must plan and execute airborne missions for their units and train and supervise airborne soldiers.

When a U.S. Army personnel retires, sometimes the person is given a retirement challenge coin. We were asked to manufacture one for a retired Airborne command sergeant major. The requested design was a round-shaped challenge coin, with the image of the army rank symbol engraved on one side, and several U.S. Army and The 82nd insignias on the other.

Our team of graphic designers made some layouts for the design idea and rendered them as 2D images to be approved. Once the layout was approved, the digital design went to our state-of-the-art machinery to start production. The construction of the custom coin went through several quality control steps before being finalized with coloring paints and a protective coat.

Red Hill Challenge Coin

Red Hill Challenge Coin

Red Hill Challenge Coin

The Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility supports military operations in the Pacific. Buried under 100 feet of volcanic rock, the Red Hill Underground Fuel Storage Facility, a complex of 20 fuel tanks, was innovatively designed and constructed.

Conceived in the early years of World War II as a plan to bury four fuel containers horizontally in a hillside at the U.S. Navy facility at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the Red Hill Underground Fuel Storage Facility ultimately encompassed the design and construction of 20 vertical storage tanks. The facility may have been a wartime project, but it kept operating long after the war ended and remains in active use today, more than 70 years after it was completed.

When we were given the order to produce a custom coin challenge for the facility by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), they requested an unusual design that the coin should be shaped rectangular so it looked more like a plaque than a normal coin. They also requested the field of the coin to be inscribed with some words to honor the people who were involved in the construction of the facility.

The coin was colored in bronze and black paint. The black was used for the background and all the letters were painted in brass color. The only graphical element that we applied to the coin was the logo of the ASCE, colored to give a nice accent to the overall look.
