Breast Cancer Awareness Coin

The Pink Patch Project is a pioneering public awareness campaign to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in fighting this devastating disease. The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and public safety agencies in Los Angeles County and beyond.

These agencies and departments have partnered together to combat breast cancer by raising public awareness about the importance of early detection in the fight against the disease and raising funds for breast cancer research and treatment. Their goal is simply increasing awareness about the life-saving benefits of early detection and early intervention in the fight against breast cancer.

The Bellingham Police Department in Washington state is one of the collaborators of the Pink Patch Project. The department has raised over $100000.00 since joining the Pink Patch Project two years ago. They have dedicated that year’s fundraising to one of our residents who is fighting her battle.

We had the honor of building this colorful and beautiful Custom Challenge Coin with gorgeous elements and details applied to it. You can see the engravings of the police shield and the landscape image were machined to perfection.

912th AG Company Coin

The AG Co or Adjutant General’s Company is a branch of the United States Army that provides personnel service support by manning the force, providing human resources services, coordinating personnel support, Army band operations, and recruiting and retention. The objective of the AG Company is to “maximize operational effectiveness of the total force by anticipating, manning, and sustaining military operations.

The 912th Adjutant General Company is a U.S. Army Reserve company based out of Miami. They support operations and accomplish this by building, generating, and sustaining the force providing combatant commanders the required forces for missions, and supporting leaders and Soldiers at all levels. The AG Company has been impacted by several rounds of reductions in personnel authorizations over time with each corresponding reduction in overall force size. However, the economies of scale promised consolidated efficiencies, and technical expert support from higher echelons has not kept pace to meet the sustained demand.

They asked us to design and build a custom commemorative challenge coin for their participation in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel 2018-2019. They wanted the coin shaped like a rectangle postage stamp, with perforation holes on each side.

We put the etched Afghanistan map on one side, and the engraving of insignias and letterings on the other side. Everything was machined perfectly so that even the small letters are readable and the colors are painted precisely.

California State Challenge Coin

Challenge coins are made not only for the military or the first responders, a lot of times they are built for private companies, events, and also to show the pride of what you call home, in this case, it could be your hometown, your county, or the state that people live in. This California state challenge coin is one example of that.

The first Spanish missionaries arrived in California in the 1700s, but it didn’t become a U.S. territory until 1847, as part of the treaty ending the Mexican-American War. Shortly thereafter, the discovery of gold at Sutter’s Mill in 1848 inspired a wave of settlers to head to the west coast in search of fortune. In 1850 California became the 31st state, and is now the third-largest state behind Alaska and Texas.

California’s history is so romantic and filled with the legend that it is fitting that the region was named for a fictional island paradise described in the 16th-century Spanish romance Las Serges de Esplandian, which was popular when Spain’s explorers first came to this part of North America’s Pacific Coast.

The custom challenge coin we made for the State of California was a classic one. Its vintage design preserves the authentic feel of an old-school memento such as medals or coins.

Boise Firefighters Challenge Coin

The Boise Fire Department is the agency that provides fire suppression services within the city of Boise, Idaho and contract services to two suburban fire districts including the city of Garden City and the village of Hidden Springs. It is the largest fire department in Idaho. Boise’s first fire department was created on January 24, 1876; consisting of 28 volunteers. Their first female captain was promoted in 2019.

On July 29th, 2019, the Boise Fire Department welcomed the 33rd recruit academy, the largest fire academy in the department’s recent history. Among the group of new recruits, there is just one woman. Boise Fire Division Chief Brad Bolen says everyone in the class comes from different backgrounds, and despite being a diverse recruiting class, everyone in the group is held to the same standard.

We had the opportunity to design and produce the custom challenge coin for the Class of 33. The design used for the coin was simple, and bold, but a bit different than common fire department challenge coins. While still using the common fire department symbol such as the Maltese Cross as the base shape of the coin, they wanted some unique details like the engraved crossed axes and skull to be applied to the design.

Boatswain’s Mate Chief Coin

A boatswain, bo’s’n, bos’n, or bosun, also known as a deck boss, or a qualified member of the deck department, is the most senior rate of the deck department and is responsible for the components of a ship’s hull. The US Navy professional rating of boatswain’s mate or BM is a designation given by the Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS) to enlisted members who were rated or “striking” for the rating as a deck seaman. The popular form of address for a boatswain’s mate is “Boats”.

Boatswain’s mates’ job is to train, direct, and supervise personnel in ship’s maintenance duties in all activities relating to marlinspike, deck, boat seamanship, painting, upkeep of ship’s external structure, rigging, deck equipment, and boats. They are integral to the ship’s navigation and serve as the ship’s Helmsman and the ship’s Lee Helmsman. In addition, they also serve as RHIB (rigid-hulled inflatable boat) coxswain.

We were asked to build this beautiful Boatswain’s Mate Chief custom challenge coin in 2017. They asked for a custom gold coin with minimum paints & colors, and they wanted it to look luxuriant and classy.

We used a brushed gold-colored metal as the base material of the coin. Then we designed and machined the anchor images machined to both sides of the coin, and also the insignias and the letterings had to be engraved precisely to achieve this elegant look.
