Navy HSM-70 Challenge Coin

HSM-70 (Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 70) also known as “Spartans” is a United States Navy helicopter squadron based at NAS Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Florida, United States. Established on February 12, 2009, their mission is to provide combat-ready aircrew and aircraft to fight and win in any environment on time, every time.

The squadron consists of 293 U.S. Navy personnel and is equipped with the Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk. HSM-70 is attached to Carrier Air Wing Eight and deployed as an integral part of the George H. W. Bush Carrier Strike Group. The squadron’s vision is One proud Spartan family built upon a culture of trust, accountability, and professionalism relentlessly striving to be preeminent and the most lethal Squadron in Carrier Air Wing EIGHT and the HSM community.

As you can see, the custom challenge coin that they ordered is shaped like a Spartan helmet. They wanted it to be clean and unsophisticated, without any paint, colors, or shiny finish. They only requested some graphic details and inscriptions, such as the US Navy insignia and some lettering.

As we always do with our coin production, we made some mock-ups digitally for our client to be approved, and then we made sure that all the special details such as the ‘corroded’ texture of the helmet could be applied flawlessly by our machine.

NAVSUP SES Challenge Coin

NAVSUP SES Challenge Coin

NAVSUP SES Challenge Coin

NAVSUP or Naval Supply Systems Command, serves as the supply command for the United States Navy for providing supplies, services, and support to both the Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Its mission is to conduct and enable supply chain, acquisition, operational logistics, and Sailor & family care activities with our mission partners to generate readiness and sustain naval forces worldwide to prevent and decisively win wars.

NAVSUP Senior Executive Service (SES) is senior civilians who possess exceptional executive skills and bring diverse portfolios to the management and operations of the Department of the Navy. The SES consists of executive positions, including managerial, supervisory, and policy positions classified above General Schedule (GS) grade 15 or equivalent positions in most Executive Branch agencies of the federal government.

Embleholics had an opportunity to build them a custom challenge coin for NAVSUP SES. The design requirements were quite simple, as it was only painted minimally with one color, and the rest was just brass-colored with a brush effect finish. On one side is the embossed NAVSUP logo, and on the other is the SES insignia.

We have a lot of experience crafting this kind of challenge coin, so with an affordable price you can get the quality of the material and the craftsmanship as you can see in the photos.

Naval Special Warfare Group Fidget Spinner

Naval Special Warfare Group Fidget Spinner

Naval Special Warfare Group Fidget Spinner

The fidget spinner is a palm-sized toy that spins around a bearing to help people who have trouble focusing or often find themselves fidgeting, especially with their hands. This small toy is becoming a phenomenon but was actually designed as a tool for helping patients with ADD, attention deficit disorder, and ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, find focus and calm.

Fidget spinners were intensely popular among ADHD communities, promising to help increase attention by giving the user an outlet for fidgeting. Some have argued fidget spinners are effective attentional aids and coping mechanisms for students with special needs, such as those with ADHD or autism, though many experts have disputed those claims.

This featured Fidget Spinner was ordered by the Naval Special Warfare Group. While most fidget spinners sold are designed as toys and marketed for children, this one is built and customized with military-themed elements, just like a challenge coin or other military accessories.

You can see in the photos that we can make reliefs and inscriptions over the base construction. We also could have different parts of the spinner to be painted or printed. Even the small details such as the tiny rope patterns on the US Navy insignia could be machined well.

SpaceX X NASA DM-2 Coin

SpaceX X NASA DM-2 Coin

SpaceX x NASA DM-2 Coin

NASA and SpaceX launched the first astronauts to the space station from the U.S. since 2011. After the Space Shuttle program was brought to an end in 2011, NASA no longer had a spacecraft system capable of sending humans to space. NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley flew on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, lifting off on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A in Florida, for an extended stay at the space station for the Demo-2 mission.

Crew Dragon Demo-2 (officially Crew Demo-2, SpaceX Demo-2, or Demonstration Mission-2) was the first crewed test flight of the Crew Dragon spacecraft. The Demo-2 mission will be the final major step before NASA’s Commercial Crew Program certifies Crew Dragon for operational, long-duration missions to the space station.

We at Embleholics are happy that we were involved in this event by producing the commemorative challenge coin for NASA and SpaceX. The coin was designed to represent both institutions with some cool contemporary graphics engraved on the sides.

One side has an embossed graphic of the American continent, and on the other is an etched illustration of an astronaut. The names of the crews, Behken and Hurley also inscribed on the rim of the coin. The overall design was colored with red, white, and blue paint.

Military Custom Bottle Opener

Military Custom Bottle Opener

Military Custom Bottle Opener

Bottle openers and can openers, sometimes also called ‘Church Key’ or ‘Churchkey’ in North America. A church key initially referred to a simple hand-operated device for prying the cap, called a “crown cork”, off a glass bottle. The shape and design of some of these openers did resemble a large simple key. This kind of closure was invented in 1892, although there is no evidence that the opener was called a church key at that time.

There are several varieties of bottle openers, such as Crown Cork openers, Speed openers or ‘Bar Blades’, Wall-mounted, and
Multi-opener. A lot of organizations and institutions asked to build them custom challenge coins which also function as a bottle opener. We believe one of the reasons is that most people drink from a bottle, and it’s pretty annoying once you have a bottle of drink in your hand and you don’t have the means to open it.

This one in the photos is an example of a military bottle opener that people usually order us at Embleholics. This one has a rectangular shape, is engraved with text and graphics on both sides and is coated in golden color. The details and elements on the bottle opener are pretty much just like we see on a challenge coin.

We just need to make sure that the material is strong enough for it to function properly, and has the 3 essential parts of a bottle opener: Fulcrum, Tooth, and Lever.
