CNATT DET Whiting Field Coin

CNATT or Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Detachment Whiting Field is positioned at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Florida. CNATT Det. Whiting Field provides formal technical training for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, international officers, and senior enlisted personnel in technical, management, and leadership professionalism to support fleet requirements for aviation maintenance managers, ordnance, and supply professionals.

Its mission is to provide an educational foundation in technical, management, and leadership professionalism to support pipeline training and fleet requirements for aviation maintenance, ordnance, and supply managers and professionals, while its vision is to implement a continuum of aviation maintenance, ordnance, and supply training focused on increasing readiness and enabling mission accomplishment.

The custom challenge coin that we build for them is classically designed, round-shaped, and layered with shiny colors such as gold. While the basic concept was quite simple, it had small graphics to be engraved on the surfaces, like insignias and symbols with small details and patterns.

Luckily we at Embleholics can handle such complex details with our state-of-the-art computerized design process and machinery. You can look at the photos on the right and see that the tiny lines on the embossed insignias and inscriptions were precisely carved and it was painted well in various colors within the bitty lines.

Camp Lemonnier Challenge Coin

Camp Lemonnier Challenge Coin

Camp Lemonnier Challenge Coin

Camp Lemonnier is the primary base of operations for U.S. Africa Command in the Horn of Africa. It provides, operates, and sustains superior service in support of combat readiness and security of ships, aircraft, detachments, and personnel for regional and combatant command requirements. It also enables operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S. and African Nation relations.

Camp Lemonnier is located next to Djibouti – Ambouli International Airport in Djibouti City, and home to the Combined Joint Task Force, the Horn of Africa. It was originally established as a garrison for the French Foreign Legion. The base was leased by Djibouti to the United States in 2002, along with the right to use the neighboring airport and port facilities.

We were commissioned to build Camp Lemonnier a custom challenge coin. They asked to create a well-designed coin that has an oval shape. They also requested some insignias and some inscriptions to be engraved on both sides of the coin.

We at Embleholics could produce almost any kind of shape imaginable due to our computerized and precise machinery. You can see that the oval shape of the coin was machined flawlessly, and all the inscriptions and graphics embossed on the surface were nicely executed, including the diamond plate pattern on the front side of the coin.

Boise Fire Station #5 Coin

Boise Fire Station #5 Coin

Boise Fire Station #5 Coin

Boise’s first fire department was created on January 24, 1876, with 28 volunteers involved. They provide fire suppression services within the city of Boise, Idaho, and contract services to two suburban fire districts including the city of Garden City and the village of Hidden Springs. Currently, the Boise Fire Department has 300+ full-time employees, 17 Fire Stations, a Hazardous Materials Team, an ARFF team, a Dive Team, and a Technical Rescue Team.

On January the 30th, 2023, Boise firefighters ran their final call from the current Fire Station 5 on 16th Street and are already transitioning to temporary locations. Station 5 is the city’s oldest operating fire station and was built in 1951. Soon construction will begin to tear down the building and rebuild a new one in the same location.

We had an opportunity to manufacture a custom challenge coin for Boise Fire Station #5. They requested the coin to be designed based on the Maltese Cross, the symbol of firefighters. They also asked for their mascot, the Sleepless Knights, to be sculpted on the front side of the coin, and the number 5 to be inscribed on the back.

The base metal material went through a computerized design and machining system that allows us to create different forms, precise angles, and even organic shapes such as the bulging areas on the surfaces of the coin, as you can see in the photos to the right.

Boise Fire Whitney’s Wagons Coin

Boise Fire Whitney’s Wagons Coin

Boise Fire Whitney’s Wagons Coin

The Boise Fire Department, the largest fire department in Idaho, is the agency that provides fire suppression services within the city of Boise, Idaho, and contract services to two suburban fire districts including the city of Garden City and the village of Hidden Springs.

Boise Fire’s Station 17 is organized and placed into service in the Indian Lakes neighborhood of the Whitney Fire District. Whitney’s first fire trucks were just Ford Trucks with water tanks welded on the back. The cabbies would radio the info to their dispatcher, who in turn would phone the fire department.

They came to us when they wanted to build themselves a custom challenge coin. They wanted something that was out-of-the-box but still resembled the symbol of firefighters, the Maltese Cross. So we took the Maltese Cross as the base shape for the coin and added some graphic designs on both sides.

On the front side, we embossed an image of a skull with the number 17 on its forehead. The skull was also carved with some small tribal patterns which make it look artistic. On the back side, we put the number 17 and some letterings as accents on each side of the cross.

BAE Systems Challenge Coin

BAE Systems Challenge Coin

BAE Systems Challenge Coin

BAE Systems was formed on 30th November 1999 by the £7.7 billion purchase and merger between Marconi Electronic Systems (MES) – the defense electronics and naval shipbuilding subsidiary of the General Electric Company (GEC) by British Aerospace, an aircraft, munitions, and naval systems manufacturer.

The name was created through the use of the historic acronym for British Aerospace (BAe) combined with the ‘Systems’ section of partner company Marconi Electronic Systems. BAE is the successor to various aircraft, shipbuilding, armored vehicles, armaments, and defense electronics companies, including the Marconi Company, the first commercial company devoted to the development and use of radio.

We had the opportunity to manufacture a custom challenge coin for BAE Systems. They requested a design that could represent the spirit of the company, which is to be a world leader in defense and security systems around the globe. They wanted something like a classic-looking coin with an elegant vibe to it.

We applied gold as the base color of the coin, and after we got the material through our state-of-the-art computerized machinery and had all of the inscriptions and engravings done, we applied the colors on the surface of the coin. You can see in the photos that even the small details such as the stars could be painted flawlessly.
