Boise Fire Whitney’s Wagons Coin
The Boise Fire Department, the largest fire department in Idaho, is the agency that provides fire suppression services within the city of Boise, Idaho, and contract services to two suburban fire districts including the city of Garden City and the village of Hidden Springs.
Boise Fire’s Station 17 is organized and placed into service in the Indian Lakes neighborhood of the Whitney Fire District. Whitney’s first fire trucks were just Ford Trucks with water tanks welded on the back. The cabbies would radio the info to their dispatcher, who in turn would phone the fire department.
They came to us when they wanted to build themselves a custom challenge coin. They wanted something that was out-of-the-box but still resembled the symbol of firefighters, the Maltese Cross. So we took the Maltese Cross as the base shape for the coin and added some graphic designs on both sides.
On the front side, we embossed an image of a skull with the number 17 on its forehead. The skull was also carved with some small tribal patterns which make it look artistic. On the back side, we put the number 17 and some letterings as accents on each side of the cross.
