Federal Bureau of Prisons

Federal Bureau of Prisons

Police Coins

Embleholics was asked to make this challenge coin for the Federal Bureau of Prisons which is a large agency and supports the Federal prison system. Many service members who get out of the military start to work with the Federal Bureau of Prisons because of their military history of security and law enforcement, and training in high security environments. Because of that that many  members in this organization know what challenge coins are.

With this police coins design we wanted to represent the building in which the member who commissioned this work currently works at. As always, we represented it with some detailed features that ensured people recognized it, but also large enough that you could see most of the building. As in this coin, we have done numerous buildings on coins, many even more detailed than this one. Specifically relevant to law enforcement challenge coins are the importance of police department buildings, prisons, or other headquarters. We also included in the design the slogan of the organization. The coin contains the seal of the organization on the back side of the coin.

Though these police coins don’t have a unique design in the shape, we did include the rope like finish on the edge of the coin. This, along with the detailed building on the front, gives the coin a 3D effect and unique feel. The coin is hand painted in specific areas and also has a gold and silver finish to give it an elegant design. Embleholics has worked with dozens of agencies to create law enforcement challenge coins.

Navy IYAOYAS Challenge Coins

USS Nimitz AO’s

Looking at this coins, with it’s very colorful front imagery, is likely to give anyone an immediate strong impression. Even more interesting, however, is the unpronounceable acronym on the back: IYAOYAS. Unknown to many outside of a small Naval Aviation community, this term is slang for Aviation Ordnancemen. The acronyms meaning, even less well-known, stands for “If You Ain’t Ordnance, You Ain’t Shit.”

When Embleholics was contacted to make Navy IYAOYAS challenge coins for a local chapter of Navy Ordnancemen, we wanted to make something very graphic and vibrant since we knew how passionate they are about their rating and job. Out of the design process came a skull, flying through the air, with flames enveloped all around it. It’s easy to come to an immediate conclusion with this picture coupled with knowing anything about ordnancmen: AO’s are helping the Navy bring death and destruction on wings of fire to America’s foes. Or perhaps you can come up with your own meaning?

That’s the great thing about art, it is open to interpretation. Sometimes a coin needs to represent certain value or ideas, or symbols. Other times, when there is a great deal more creative liberty–usually when it is for a specific community like Navy IYAOYAS challenge coins–a more creative look is possible. The number 68–the chapter’s number–is on the skull, and the back is filled in with factual detail stating who commissioned the coin design. This latter detail, even on the most casual or creative of coins, will want to be included so that anyone who ever sees it will know immediately where the coin came from. You would be surprise how subtly this information can be presented with a little bit of artistic maneuvering.

Embleholics’ exclusive challenge coin artist created this design, and has created numerous others equally impressive and creative. All that our artist needs to get started is a basic sketch or idea, or some similar images and they will get going as soon as possible on something incredible looking for you. Our artists have over 15 years of experience designing thousands of different products. And the best part about us is that, unlike almost no other challenge coin company out there, we allow our customers to make as many revisions as are needed in order to get the design perfect down to every little detail.

Navy Chief Challenge Coin

Navy Chief Challenge Coins

Navy Supply Chiefs

Embleholics has made a number of Navy Chief challenge coins, just a few of which are highlighted on our website. With this design you can see a little bit of the process it can take from a broad idea to narrowing down towards the final design which we produce based on. As you can see with this particular design, which likely included a couple more steps in between what we see here, it changed quite a bit from beginning to end. With the initial design, we can see that there is a lot of empty space on the back which likely was an issue for this customer. The keys also look quite bulky.

After some more revisions, the design narrowed down to a much cleaner and crisp looking design, with the backside in particular being changed significantly in order to fill in the space better and create a better consistency and transition from front to back.

On the front of this coin a goat with Chief’s Khakis on highlights this coin. Goats are a synonymous symbol for a Navy Chief and are commonly found on Navy Chief challenge coins. Lines on the background and a roped edge around only the round inner part of the coin give this coin an extra dynamic and greater depth and detail. On the back we added the same lines/edging along with some waves in our best looking blue paint.

Aside from the great art on the center part of the front and back, the keys, an important symbol of the Navy Supply Corps. The keys have all 3D features and are cut out to perfection in order to look and feel like the actual intended symbol. Overall this turned out to be a great Chief Challenge Coin!

VP-65 Squadron Coin

VP-65 Squadron Coin

Navy Squadron Challenge Coin

VP-65

The idea of the squadron challenge coin originated among airplane pilots who would exchange and keep small coins representing respective units, way back in the early 20th century when the idea which has led to the modern day challenge coin began. Back then, it was also important for pilots as a way of identifying themselves should anyone be shot down, and particularly if they survived so that it could be proven to allies that they were who they said they were.

We are always happy for the opportunity to work on new Navy Squadron challenge coins in order to help carry forward the tradition with great looking for coins for the community of pilots that helped start the challenge coin tradition. This coin highlights a now retired Naval Air Squadron that flew P-3 Orions out of Southern California. On the front their patch is highlighted. On the back we did as faithful a representation of the P-3’s as we could, in full 3D effect. Even if you’ve never seen a P-3 before in person, just looking at our rendition of it tells you we went to great lengths to make it as accurate as possible. We completed the design with a nice looking antique silver finish in this squadron challenge coin.

If you are looking for professionally designed coins that maintain painstaking faithful detail to original artwork, logos, or vehicles, we are the company that has a proven track record of achieving these results. We have even improved upon the images and logos of organizations we have worked with, so much so that they end up using what we did long after we finished their work. If you provide us with any images of buildings, airplanes, vehicles, or anything else that you want faithfully replicated onto a coin, we can do anything. And we will keep working on it with you until you feel we have it exactly correct.
