USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin

Some of us at Embleholics have served on Navy Carriers, so it’s always a great pleasure when we have the opportunity to make a coin for a department within a carrier, a Chief’s Mess, or even a whole carrier itself. With this project in particular, we got tasked with making a USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin for reenlisting sailors.

The USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin

Quickly we settled on the design of the USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin to be in the Shape of President Reagan’s head. As you can see, we capture his image from his younger years perfectly. The 3D effects really turned out quite excellently, and the antique silver shine is modest.

The back of the USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin was intended to highlight the coin’s purpose: a gift to reenlisting sailors. From the top, the carrier’s motto sits over a Tori Gate, which is a symbol important to some religious traditions in Japan. This is important as the USS Ronald Reagan is based in Japan, and our customers wanted Japan to be represented on their USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin. Within the gate is the reenlistment oath, situated prominently in the center, a reminder to all sailors who took their oath on the Reagan and received their USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coin.

On the bottom of the back, we faithfully reproduced a Nimitz-Class carrier, complete with the Reagan’s hull number in accurate colors, and even the gold anchors at the correct position on the ship’s bow.

You might have guessed that our customers were happy with how their USS Ronald Reagan Challenge Coins turned out, and you would be correct in that guess. We faithfully replicated and executed onto the coin several complex shapes, and the result was incredible. Anyone that knows his face can easily recognize President Reagan’s visage in the coin.
