Team Submarine Challenge Coin

Team Submarine is a combination of the Program Executive Officer, Submarines, the Deputy Commander, Undersea Warfare, and the Undersea Technology Officer. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities.

US Navy’s submarine acquisition and sustainment is comprised of four key organizations; Team Submarine, Naval Reactors, Strategic Systems Programs, and Chief of Naval Operations Undersea Warfare Division. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

For their challenge coin, they wanted a common challenge coin but with a more artistic vibe. They chose to use cartoony illustrations as the base design of the coin. They are a cell-shaded drawing of a submarine floating on the ocean, with the Star Spangled Banner as the sky background.

On the rim of each side of the coin, we inscribed some lettering before we finalized the production by applying some paints for the coloring and glossy protective coat.
