SpaceX Starlink 10 Coin

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation, that started launching Starlink satellites in 2019, operated by American aerospace company SpaceX, providing coverage to over 60 countries and aims for global mobile phone service after 2023. Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency service is made possible through the world’s largest constellation of highly state-of-the-art satellites operating in a low orbit around the Earth.

Starlink provides satellite-based internet connectivity to underprivileged areas of the planet, as well as reasonably priced service in more urbanized areas. SpaceX also designs, builds, and launches made-to-measure military satellites based on variants of the Starlink satellite bus, with the largest publicly known customer being the Space Development Agency (SDA).

We were asked to build a one-of-a-kind custom commemorative coin for the Starlink 10 Launch event. The design was nothing unordinary, just a common round-shaped coin with graphic elements and inscriptions. They asked us to have the graphics represent the event of the Starlink launch.

We basically designed SpaceX’s Starlink coin in two colors, chrome and blue, with additional colors such as white, red, and green for accents. The chrome coating was used for the base of the coin, over the rim, and the edge of the coin. Some inscription was also applied on the rim, covered in the chrome coat. The blue paint was applied to the embossed graphics on both sides of the coin.
