NMCB ONE Wardroom Coin

NMCB ONE or Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, is a United States Navy Seabee battalion, It has a long, proud, and distinguished history that reaches back to the early days of World War II. Commissioned on March 15, 1942, as Naval Construction Battalion ONE (NCB), the Battalion was soon split into two detachments and sent into service in the South Pacific.

Their mission is to develop and deliver highly capable engineering TEAMS that support Naval and Joint Warfighting requirements. They will aggressively execute all assigned missions, and be ready to Defend the Nation when called upon.

The wardroom is the mess cabin or compartment on a warship or other military ship for commissioned naval officers above the rank of midshipman, and NMCB ONE contacted us when they wanted to build a custom challenge coin for their wardroom. They requested a colorful design to be applied to the coin, with some details also inscribed on it.

We use their emblem to be etched on the front side of the coin and have it colored with glossy paints. The emblem is encircled by a gold rim. The battalion’s name is embossed over it and colored in black, while their motto was engraved on the bottom and painted gold. On the back side, we engraved some inscriptions and military symbols and used glossy white paint as the background.

New England DEA Coin

The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) is the largest anti-drug organization in the world. It has some 10,000 employees in some 300+ locations, including domestic and foreign offices. DEA is committed to tackling the nationwide drug overdose and poisoning crisis that is driven by criminal drug networks. This work includes a critical focus on outreach, prevention, engagement, and education with law enforcement partners and communities across the nation.

Their mission is to ensure the safety and health of American communities by combating criminal drug networks bringing harm, violence, overdoses, and poisonings to the United States. DEA and its people have fulfilled this mission over the past five decades, and the important work of our predecessor agencies during “The Early Years” of federal drug law enforcement in the United States.

The DEA New England Division gave us an order to build them a custom challenge coin for their Manchester District Office. The design concept that they had was a more modern-looking challenge coin with a picture of a skeleton playing a bagpipe on one side, and an image of a Bigfoot or Sasquatch on the other side.

For the Bagpipe-playing skeleton picture, we had it sculpted as a relief and had it colored with red paint on the bagpipe and its clothing. As for the Bigfoot image, we designed a silhouette image of it with the New England forest as the background and had the layout engraved and colored with black and white paints.

Nebraska U.S. Marshal Coin

The United States Marshals Service is the oldest law enforcement agency in the United States, and perhaps the most esteemed. The USMS is a bureau within the U.S. Department of Justice, operating under the direction of the attorney general, but serves as the enforcement arm of the U.S. federal courts to ensure the effective operation of the judiciary and the integrity of the Constitution.

U.S. marshals are required to oversee nearly all crimes related to the federal judiciary, which means their work involves witness security, asset forfeiture, judicial security, and, perhaps largest of all, tactical operations and criminal investigations. Throughout its history, the Marshals have also provided unique security and enforcement services.

We had a chance to produce a custom challenge coin for the U.S. Marshal District of Nebraska for their 20th Anniversary. The design is quite extraordinary because as opposed to a round-shaped normal coin, it has a rhombus shape. Other than that, the other elements that were put on the coin were pretty much the usual ones.

The coin was only colored in glossy black, with some areas showing the bare metal color of the base material. The U.S. Marshal badge was inscribed on the front side of the coin, and the 20th Anniversary inscription was embossed on the back.

Navy Supply Corps School Coin

The Navy Supply Corps School (NSCS), offers a range of career-long training for the Supply Corps community, a 27-week training and “Basic Qualification Course” (BQC) in the United States and located at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island. Its mission is to give students the personal and professional foundations for success.

The Basic Qualification Course (BQC) curriculum encompasses Supply Management (SM), Food Service (FS), Disbursing Management (DM), Retail Operations (RO), and Leadership and Management (LM). The Newport Naval Station has approximately 9500 students engaging directly with the school base annually and about 5000 individuals receive training from the school per year.

They contacted us to have their custom challenge coin produced. They requested a very artistic design for the coin, a kind that resembles a common navy challenge coin features such as a rope pattern on the edge and engraved insignia on the field of the coin, but some details were designed and executed a bit differently so it looks more like an expensive craft from the old days.

The use of only one color, black, on the coin made it more delicate and elegant. The rope pattern on the edge of the coin was made a bit bigger relative to usual designs, so it looks bolder and sturdy. The textured engravings of the school building made it look like it was cast traditionally.

Navy SEAL Delivery Vehicles Coin

The SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) is a crewed submersible and a type of swimmer delivery vehicle used to deliver United States Navy SEALs and their equipment for special operations missions. SDVs are employed by U.S. Navy SEAL operators. They are small free-flooding submersibles that can transport up to six combat-equipped SEALs.

SDVs carry a pilot, co-pilot, and combat swimmer team and their equipment to and from maritime mission objectives on land or at sea. The pilot and co-pilot are often a part of the fighting team. Modern-day SDVs are powered by lithium-ion batteries and boast state-of-the-art navigation, communication, life-support systems, and weapons-delivery system capabilities.

Naval Special Warfare Group 3 was one of the principal groups responsible for the organization’s leadership and deployment of United States Navy SEALs, and they asked us to produce them a custom challenge coin.

They requested the coin to be etched with their insignia in front of the globe map on one side and to have a sculpted relief of the SEAL Delivery Vehicle on the other. They also wanted the challenge coin to look more modern, so we decided to leave the edge of the coin smooth without a machined pattern. The coin was finished with a coating of enamel paint to ensure durability.
