Navy Patrol Squadron 47 Coin

Patrol Squadron (VP-47) also known as the “Golden Swordsmen” is a Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol squadron based out of Whidbey Island, Washington, and is attached to Patrol Reconnaissance Wing 10. Its mission is to conduct Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance operations to defeat our enemies in combat.

They asked us to build an extraordinary custom challenge coin that takes inspiration from their insignia, which has an eagle and a golden sword. They wanted us to make something dynamic, as opposed to a ‘static’ ordinary round challenge coin. And they also requested that the coin could function as a bottle opener.

The design started with an image of a flying eagle and a golden sword. The idea is to have that one eagle to be shown on both sides of the coin, so the graphic on one side would be a mirror image of the other side. Makes the coin looks similar on both sides, but in detail they are different.

On the back side, the blue ribbon on the bottom is embossed with the “U.S.N.” lettering, while on the front side it has “VP-47″. And the front side also has the sword engraved in whole, with ‘Golden Swordsmen” inscribed on it.

Navy Captain Challenge Coin

Navy Captain Challenge Coin

Navy Captain Challenge Coin

The Captain is a senior commissioned officer’s rank in the United States Navy and is equivalent to the rank of Major in the other Armed Services. Navy captains can hold a variety of high-level leadership positions, including Commander of a Navy cruiser or larger ship. The equivalent rank is Colonel in the United States Army, Air Force, Space Force, and Marine Corps.

In most armies and in some air forces, a captain is the commander of the largest group of soldiers that an officer can be expected to know personally, a company in the infantry, a battery in the artillery, or a flight in the air force. On the sea, a captain is usually the commander of a large warship: A cruiser, battleship, or aircraft carrier in the navy and any sizable ship in the mercantile marine service.

We were asked to manufacture a custom challenge coin that was going to be awarded to a US Navy Captain. They wanted something classic, elegant and luxurious. The design requested was a coin with heavily sculpted graphics on it. On one side we engraved a USN symbol, the twin anchors with a shield over them and an eagle on top of it. And on the other side, we sculpted a beautiful USN Battleship and a couple of submarines.

Muckleshoot Tribe Challenge Coin

Muckleshoot Tribe Challenge Coin

Muckleshoot Tribe Challenge Coin

The Muckleshoot Indian tribe is an amalgam of several Native American tribes that have inhabited the region surrounding the White and Green rivers for centuries. The name Muckleshoot is derived from the Native name for the prairie on which the Tribe’s reservation was established.

The United States recognizes the Muckleshoot Tribe as a political successor to several groups of Duwamish Indians that were party to the Treaty of Point Elliott, including the band to which Chief Seattle belonged. Beginning in 1995, the tribe vigorously pursued economic development projects that led to the creation of the Muckleshoot Mall, the Muckleshoot Casino, and the White River Amphitheater.

They requested us to manufacture a custom challenge coin that represents their pride and history. They wanted an artistic challenge coin with some graphic elements and designs. On one side they only want their tribe’s logo with a black background, encircled with their values in life. And on the opposite side, they wanted a graphic design of the beautiful scenery of their native land.

You can see in the photos that this is one beautiful challenge coin with a lot of details and colors. The tribe’s logo looks bold and shines on a black painted base, and the engraving of the scenery was perfectly executed and varnished.

They wanted an engraving of their Fire Truck on one side, and a stylized image of the scenery of the Yapavai County nature on the other side.

The coin’s base material is a golden-colored metal, finished clean without any patterns on the edge. The images on both sides were machined and colored perfectly.

Veterans Taps Challenge Coin

Veterans Taps Challenge Coin

Veterans Taps Challenge Coin

Taps have been used by the U.S. armed forces ever since — at the end of the day, during flag ceremonies, and at military funerals. Whenever a service member is buried with military honors anywhere in the United States, the ceremony concludes with the three-rifle volley and the sounding of Taps on trumpet or bugle.

The impassive sound of a bugle call is a fixture at military funerals. The bugle call played at military funerals is ingrained in American culture like the music of mourning, but it wasn’t always that way. “Taps” started out as a military signal for soldiers to turn out the lights and go to bed. When at a military funeral in uniform, a salute should be rendered during the playing of taps. Civilians should remove their headgear and place their hand over their heart.

This custom challenge coin was designed and built to remember and honor the Veterans Taps. The design idea was to show the silhouette of a military trumpet playing the Taps and an officer saluting in front of him. And also to have the coin showing the Psalm 23:4 verse from the bible.

The US Flag was the only element painted on this coin and it became a really nice accent amidst the monochromatic design.
