Northwest Ambulance Challenge Coin

Northwest Ambulance is dedicated to creating long-term EMS partnerships by delivering efficient, innovative, high quality, and cost-effective services that are built around the needs of the people, hospitals, and the communities that they serve.

Northwest Ambulance consists of over 250 EMTs, RNs, Paramedics, Dispatchers, and Management Staff. They transport thousands of patients every year from all over Puget Sound. Their service area is from Pierce County to Whatcom County. Northwest Ambulance currently transports to hospitals, clinics, fire departments, and nursing homes.

Their philosophy on the use of advanced and new technology is that it should improve the delivery of clinical care and customer service. It should improve employee working conditions and efficiency. Northwest Ambulance understands that balance correlates to stability, and stability leads to the dependable business practices and long-term relationships they desire.

We had the chance to build them a cool-looking custom challenge coin. The overall design was pretty contemporary, with no classic patterns and etching, and the use of clean margins and lines. They asked us to chisel the full-colored Northwest Ambulance logo on the front side, and the international symbol of the ambulance on the back side. The result was a wonderful challenge coin with well-machined details and etches.

NMCB-1 Challenge Coin

NMCB-1 Challenge Coin

NMCB-1 Challenge Coin

NMCB 1 or Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, is a United States Navy Seabee battalion. “The First and the Finest,” Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE, has a long, proud and distinguished history that reaches back to the early days of World War II, and also as the very first Naval Construction Battalion of the service that would become known as the Seabees

Throughout its 66 proud years of service, NMCB ONE and its detachments have been awarded five Navy Unit Commendations, four Meritorious Unit Commendations, and 11 Navy “E” Ribbons as the Atlantic Fleet Best of Type, and seven Peltier Awards as the best Seabee Battalion in the Naval Construction Force.

NMCB 1 mission is to provide task-tailored, adaptable, and combat-effective engineering and construction forces that deploy to support Naval objectives globally and enable logistics for distributed Fleet operations.

They ordered us to craft them an extraordinary custom challenge coin. It is shaped from combined symbolic elements such as an eagle, a shield, and the Navy’s anchors. We sculptured those elements to be the front side of the coin, and on the back side, we put the insignia of the NMCB 1. The result was an amazing piece of challenge coin.

194th FA Regiment Coin

The 1st Battalion, 194th Field Artillery Regiment is a field artillery battalion of the United States Army National Guard. It is assigned to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division in the Iowa Army National Guard as its direct support battalion.

Originally the 1st Battalion 194th Field Artillery was formed on 26 February 1943 from two other units – the 2nd Battalion 125th Field Artillery Regiment and the 1st Battalion 185th Field Artillery Regiment. Both of these units were part of the 34th Infantry Division, which was half from Minnesota and half from Iowa. This newly formed artillery battalion was equipped with 155 mm howitzers with a General Support (GS) mission to the 34th Infantry Division.

The custom challenge coin that we built for them was ordered to commemorate their participation in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel 2020-2021 in Afghanistan. Soldiers from 1st Battalion 194th Field Artillery Regiment conducted a Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (C-RAM) mission utilizing the Land-based Phalanx Weapon System in various locations in Afghanistan.

The challenge coin, as you can see from the photos, is quite unique and distinguishable, even with minimum elements and decorations. Only the insignia of the 34th Infantry Division was engraved on one side, and an engraving of an artillery gun on the other side.

ODA 3333 3rd (A) SFG Coin

ODA 3333 or Operational Detachment Alpha 333 is a part of the United States Army’s Third Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). The 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) also called 3rd SFG(A) and often simply called 3rd Group, is an active duty United States Army Special Forces (SF) group that was active in the Vietnam Era (1963–69), deactivated, and then reactivated in 1990.

3rd Group, as it is sometimes called, is designed to deploy and execute nine doctrinal missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-insurgency, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, information operations, counterproliferation of weapon of mass destruction, and security force assistance.

The 3rd SFG(A) was primarily responsible for operations within the AFRICOM area of responsibility, as part of the Special Operations Command, Africa (SOCAFRICA). Its primary area of operations is now Africa as part of a 2015 SOCOM directive, but 3rd Group has also been involved in the Caribbean and the Greater Middle East, and Afghanistan.

They asked us to build a unique custom challenge coin that is shaped like a kettlebell and can be used as a bottle opener. They asked us to engrave their insignia and emblem on both sides of the coin, with some inscriptions of their motto around them.

56th RQS Challenge Coin

The 56th Rescue Squadron or 56th RQS is part of the 31st Fighter Wing, stationed at Aviano Air Base, Italy. The squadron was previously assigned to the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, England. 56th RQS operates HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters to carry out search and rescue missions.

The 56th Rescue Squadron’s mission is to conduct combat-ready search and rescue missions using HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters capable of executing all-weather search and rescue missions day or night in hostile environments in support of USAFE, USEUCOM, and NATO operations. It utilizes state-of-the-art communication and navigation system along with advanced search and rescue equipment. 56th RQS is capable of deploying to any theater of operations in the world.

They asked to build a unique custom challenge coin that can represent the spirit of the squadron. They ordered a coin that was shaped like a footprint of a giant. This represents the Sikorsky HH-3 helicopter, a type of aircraft that they use, which is also called the Jolly Green Giant. They also requested us to place the illustration of the Green Jolly Giants on one side, and a mountain goat on the other.

This is definitely a distinctive, very cool green custom challenge coin.
