Colorado Attorney General Coin

The Attorney General of the United States, appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, heads the DOJ with its more than 100,000 attorneys, special agents, and other staff. It represents the United States in federal criminal and civil litigation, and provides legal advice to the President and Cabinet.

Attorneys general is the top legal officers of their state or territory. They advise and represent their legislature and state agencies and act as the “People’s Lawyer” for the citizens. Most are elected, though a few are appointed by the governor. The attorney general serves as the principal advisor to the president of the United States on all legal matters. The attorney general is a statutory member of the Cabinet of the United States.

We had the opportunity to produce a custom challenge coin for the Attorney General of Colorado. The basic concept design is somewhat contemporary, with minimum use of classic patterns and elements, and with the use of a modern graphic design on one side of the coin. The only vintage design is the Seal of Colorado on the front side.

You can see from the photos that even though the coin doesn’t have the usual sculpted elements such as rope or diamond pattern, we still needed to machine a lot of tiny details on the graphics on the coin. And the result is absolutely satisfying.

California State Militia Coin

The 2nd Infantry Regiment, California State Militia began in 2012 when 3 members (Jackson, Clayton, and Hernandez) of the 1st Regiment, CSM decided to form, out of a need for standardized training and a shift in goals, to support our state and provide standards that were easy to identify. A history of the lineage of each unit is maintained by the Regiment Historian. Each unit is independent yet joined in the common goal of protection of our communities and state.

They stand to support California’s first responders (Police, Fire, and Paramedics) in any capacity possible. Their goal is to be a force multiplier for them rather than a hindrance. Several of their members participate in C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) and have taken many FEMA courses to improve our ability and understanding of emergency operations should the need arise.

They requested a custom challenge coin for the Hotel Company of the California State Militia. Nothing overwhelming with the design, simply having the California State Militia logo on one side, and the insignia of the 2nd Infantry Regiment on the other side.

We used metal with a shiny finish as the base material for the coin. And we made sure that every etched detail was machined precisely, and all the colors on the elements were painted beautifully.

In 2018 we designed and manufactured a custom challenge coin for them. It’s one of the most fashonable and chic coin we’ve ever made. The design concept was contemporary and minimalistic, with the use of minimum decoration, elements and colors. The coin has only the Fenwick & West logo on one side, and an image of stylized ‘thief figure’ on the other.

To achieve this goal, the department coordinates with federal, state, and local organizations to provide a wide range of services that have a profound impact on the lives of St. Charles County’s residents and visitors each day.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in the US, the number of critically ill patients is expected to increase. The Critical Care Single Resouce (CCSR) can play a critical role in managing the delivery of patient care and leverage its expertise in rapid systems assessment, airway management, ventilatory support, vascular volume resuscitation, triage, and emergency preparedness, and resource management to support their facilities. The resources below are provided as references for working in a critical care setting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This custom challenge coin that they commissioned to us is to commemorate the Critical Care Single Resource achievement in 2019. We crafted them a really good-looking challenge coin, using brushed brass-colored metal as the base material, without using any paints or colors.

CORIVFOR FY21 Challenge Coin

The CORIVFOR, short for Coastal Riverine Force, is a unit of the United States Navy within the organizational structure of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC). According to the Navy: “The Navy’s Riverine force focuses on conducting Maritime Security Operations and Theater Security Cooperation in a riverine area of operations or other suitable areas.

To be successful in combat, naval expeditionary force members must possess weapons proficiency, a combat mindset, physical fitness, and determination. Unlike the larger surface warfare community, the most recent incarnation of the Navy’s coastal riverine expeditionary force is designed to do battle at a small-unit level, detached from a larger support force and potentially under the tactical control of a senior petty officer. Manning for this force needs to be far more selective and targeted to the specific functional skills it entails and the combat environment it likely will face.

The CORIVFOR FY21 ordered their custom challenge coin from us and we were asked to create a one-of-a-kind design for them. Using the shape of a shield instead of a more-common round coin, they requested that on one side we put the insignias for the Coastal Riverine Force units, and on the other side they wanted us to etch the text of the values taken from the book ‘Honor Bound to Defend Freedom’.
