Wilkins Kaserne Challenge Coin

Fürst-Wrede-Kaserne has been a military facility in Munich, Germany, since 1936 when it was built by the Munich Heeresbauamt (army construction bureau) under its original name Verdun-Kaserne. After World War II the U.S. forces renamed it Will Kaserne, and the Bundeswehr renamed it once more in honor of Karl Philipp von Wrede on 17 April 1972. Originally, the fully motorized 7th Anti-Tank Detachment (Panzerabwehrabteilung 7) and an artillery unit used the barracks.

The facility was enlarged and renamed by the American troops who occupied it in 1951 after the war. The 169th Infantry Regiment, 43rd Division. The 43rd Division only stayed in Germany during the Korean War time. After that, elements of the 24th Division moved into Will Kaserne and stayed there until it was returned to the German government.

We had the opportunity to create a custom challenge coin for the Wilkins Kaserne Barracks, ordered by the 300th Military Police Company or also called 300th MP Co. They wanted us to produce a simple but elegant challenge coin using only their insignia and some letterings.

We put one insignia in colors on one side and one in black & white on the other. And we machined a wavy pattern on the edge of the coin to give it a unique artistic feel.

Wildhorse Harley-Davidson Coin

Wildhorse Harley-Davidson Coin

Wildhorse Harley-Davidson is a premier dealer in the Pacific Northwest located in Beautiful Bend, Oregon. Wildhorse Harley-Davidson Dealership is one of the Premier Northwest Harley-Davidson dealers, providing new and used Harley-Davidson motorcycles, parts, accessories, apparel, riding gear, maintenance service, and performance upgrades for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles throughout the Northwest.

As of March 2019, Wildhorse Harley-Davidson is now the longest-running Harley-Davidson dealer in Central Oregon’s history. Their staff challenges each other to create a culture that is based around FAMILY vs. Clients or Customers. They want their Family of Riders to feel like their humble dealership is more like a clubhouse than a business. They know them on a first/last name basis rather than an account number. Their customers come from all areas of Central Oregon and beyond for the great service, competitive prices, and outstanding riding.

They asked us to manufacture their custom challenge coin. They wanted something that represent the Harley-Davidson spirit and the pride of Oregon. We tried to achieve this by putting the etched Harley-Davidson logo on one side, and the engravings of Oregon Mountain as the background of their logo on the other side. You can see from the photos that every detail and element of the design was machined precisely.

USS Topeka (SSN 754) Coin

USS Topeka (SSN 754) Coin

USS Topeka (SSN 754) Coin

USS Topeka (SSN 754) was commissioned on October 21, 1989, with Commander Timothy M. Richert as her first Commanding Officer. USS Topeka is the fourth ship of the “improved” Los Angeles Class, the Navy’s newest and world’s best nuclear-powered attack submarines. These ships are the most advanced undersea vessels of their type in the world.

An SSN is a nuclear-powered general-purpose attack submarine. This 360-foot, 6900-ton ship is well equipped to accomplish these tasks. Faster than her predecessors and equipped with a highly accurate sonar and weapon control system, the ship can be armed with sophisticated Mark 48 and ADCAP torpedoes, as well as Harpoon land/anti-ship missiles. Topeka can also launch multipurpose Tomahawk cruise missiles from vertical tubes located in the bow or from her torpedo tubes.

Commanding Officer James E. Fulks relieved Cmdr. Richard D. Salazar, II as CO of the Topeka during a change-of-command ceremony at the USS Parche Memorial on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in 2021. And we build a custom challenge coin to commemorate the event.

The challenge coin is a gorgeous one, with all of the engravings and sculpted graphics applied to both sides. The brass-colored metal goes beautifully with the black paint on one side, and with the colored submarine graphic on the other side.

Wounded Warrior Project Coin

Wounded Warrior Project Coin

Wounded Warrior Project Coin

Wounded Warrior Project was founded in 2003 in Roanoke, Virginia, by John Melia. Melia had been severely wounded in a helicopter crash while serving in Somalia in 1992. Melia assembled backpacks distributed to injured veterans at the former Bethesda Naval Hospital and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

The Wounded Warrior Project or WWP mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound, co-incident to your military service on or after September 11, 2001. The family member or caregivers of a Wounded Warrior is also eligible for the program.

More than 52,000 servicemen and women were physically injured in recent military conflicts. 500,000 living with invisible wounds, from depression to post-traumatic stress disorder. 320,000 experiencing debilitating brain trauma. Advancements in technology and medicine save lives, but the quality of those lives might be profoundly altered. With the support of the community of donors and team members, the WWP gives a voice to those needs and empowers our warriors to begin the journey to recovery.

We were given the opportunity to build them a custom challenge coin, which has a simple but meaningful design. Shaped like a common challenge coin and only uses one color, green, and only has the Wounded Warrior Logo on one side, and the WWP Peer Leader description inscribed on the other side.

Wood Badge 135 Coin

Wood Badge 135 Coin

Wood Badge 135 Coin

Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals. Scouters from Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, Explorers, and district and council Scouters all are welcome and belong here.

Wood Badge training was begun by Baden Powell in 1919 as a way to insure that the leaders of Scout troops were properly trained. Since then Wood Badge has been held worldwide, providing advanced leadership training to thousands of Scout leaders.

Much later, Baden-Powell sought a distinctive award for the participants in the first Gilwell course. He constructed the first award using two beads from the necklace he had recovered and threaded them onto a leather thong given to him by an elderly South African in Mafeking, calling it the Wood Badge.

We were asked to produce a Wooden Badge 135 custom challenge coin. It’s shaped to a pentagonal piece of metal, and they wanted us to carve the Wooden Badge logo on one side of the coin, and on the other was engraved with the Scouts logo, with the inscriptions of their values etched around it.

The base metal material of the coin was only painted on several areas, most of it was brushed and given some dark tone to show the depth of the engraved design.
