Border Patrol Challenge Coin

The Laredo West Border Patrol Station was established in 2007 and is juxtaposed to the Del Rio Sector at the Webb, Maverick, and Dimmit county lines. The Laredo West Station is responsible for operating a permanent traffic checkpoint located on U.S. Highway 83, about one mile north of Texas Highway 44.

The Laredo West Station is responsible for the sector and Nation by deploying agents to the border to support the National Border Patrol Strategy. Laredo West’s agents’ presence and efforts ensure a high probability of arrest and help to deter smugglers of humans, drugs, and other contraband from the station’s area of operations. Laredo West collaborates with neighboring Del Rio Sector, local law enforcement agencies, and local landowners to detect and deter all threats.

The design that they chose for this custom challenge coin was the shape of the Star Spangled Banner, a rectangular challenge coin with graphics embossed on one side, and printed on the other. They wanted us to print a quote by the legendary writer Ernest Hemingway on the back side of the coin.

To produce this kind of coin, we already have some templates ready so it didn’t take us long to set everything up and have the design to be machined and finished properly.

Established as an independent Bureau in 1972, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is dedicated to the reduction of violent crime, prevention of terrorism, and the protection of the Nation. ATF is responsible for investigating criminal and regulatory violations of firearms statutes and regulations that govern firearms transactions, including sales that are facilitated by the Internet.

In 2016, the Center also issued a report about Internet firearm transactions. Two components of the Internet may be used to facilitate Internet firearm sales: the Surface Web and the Dark Web. ATF created the Internet Investigations Center to investigate buyers and sellers who use the Internet to facilitate illegal firearms transactions.

When we were trusted to produce their custom challenge coin, we were requested to design something classic and timeless for the basic design. It’s only a simple round-shaped coin with ATF’s emblem on one side and the Internet Investigations Center on the other.

Arizona COTA Challenge Coin

COTA or Correctional Officer Training Academy, is a part of The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR). COTA provides all pre-service training for ADCRR Correctional Officers and detention officers from many county, tribal, and municipal correctional facilities and serves as a state-wide training facility for in-service training including Tactical Support Unit training, Leadership Education and Development Program, Caseworker Academy, Sergeant’s Leadership Academy, Canine Academy and other special programs.

COTA is a vital resource at the local, state, and national levels for law enforcement and the private community, providing classroom and meeting space, as well as lodging. The COTA is Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board certified.

The production of their one-off custom challenge was appointed to us, and they wanted something unique and archaic. The shape of the coin is a combination of a classic round design with crossed keys attached to it. The graphics design was just pretty much their badge and insignia, embossed to the sides of it.

We used brushed brash metal as the base material for the coin to achieve the antique vibe of the coin. With the engraved graphics and letterings, we made sure that everything was properly placed in a proportional layout.

ARC 7 de Agosto Coin

ARC 7 de Agosto (PZE-47) is a Colombian-built large offshore patrol vessel of the Colombian Navy. The construction, modified design, and engineering were made by Colombians and first laid down in August 2013. It was built by the firm Cotecmar in Cartagena, Colombia, and used the German design of the Fassmer OPV-80 class, modified to fulfill the requirements of the Colombian Navy.

The ARC 7 de Agosto ship was also involved in the ‘Colombia Against Piracy’ campaign in 2015. On Saturday 8th August 2015, the Colombian warship arrived in the Gulf of Aden to start her counter-piracy operations in close collaboration with Operation Atalanta. It worked together with the EU Naval Force in escorting and protecting World Food Programme (WFP) vessels and vulnerable shipping along the Somali coastline and also helped to deter and disrupt any acts of piracy in the Gulf of Aden.

This custom challenge coin was ordered to commemorate the event and they wanted something colorful and distinguished. They requested to have the sculpted front view of the ship on one side, and their insignia, along with the flags of the countries that were collaborating, on the other side of the coin.

It turned out to be one of the most colorful and prettiest custom coins that we’ve ever produced. All the colors and the machined details go together in harmony.

The Alpharetta Police Department of Alpharetta, Georgia, mission is to Enhance the Quality of Life of those who Live, Work, and Play in the City of Alpharetta. Their primary responsibility may be law enforcement, but their approach and philosophy are based on the fundamental mission of enhancing the quality of life of everyone in Alpharetta.

The Alpharetta Police Department is a part of The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety and is nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). As an independent credentialing body, CALEA annually reviews department policies, procedures, and operations to determine if the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety meets the Commission’s innovative and forward-looking standards to maintain annual compliance with its national accreditation.

We designed and crafted a handsome and shining challenge coin for the Alpharetta Police officers. They requested us to engrave their badge and insignias in 3D on the sides of the coin. They also wanted the coin to be shiny and colored with a well-placed finish.

We used chrome and golden plating to achieve the shiny look of the coin. The embossed graphics of the badge and insignia, we designed it digitally and made sure that it would be machined precisely, as you can see on the photos.
