Military Apparel and Gear, also known as M.A.G, was founded in 2016 by two friends over conversation and beer and they decided to find a way to help those who serve them every day and who put their lives on the line. M.A.G, just like the name, is selling Military clothing and accessories for the public.

They donate a large portion of apparel sales to Military Veterans and American First Responders in need, and they have collaborated with several other veteran-owned companies to enhance their ability to help more who need assistance. This has ranged from care packages, cancer fundraisers, and just writing checks to those who may need a bit of help.

They requested us to manufacture coin challenge coins for them. For this particular design, they wanted to do something simple but still eye-catching. The basic concept of the coin was pretty standard, just a round coin with both sides engraved with logos or insignias. Nothing really extraordinary.

It’s the details of the coin that we carefully designed so it would look awesome, such as the placement of the inscriptions and letterings, the depth of the embossed graphics, the type of paint used for coloring, and the type of coating for the final finish.

Milford Fire Department Coin

The first efforts to organize a fire company in the city of Milford, Pennsylvania, occurred during the late 1920s or early 1930s, but for whatever reason never materialized. The money raised was used to install streetlights in the village of Milford Square. The next attempt to organize a fire company took place on July 23, 1945, when a meeting was held in the hall of the Milford Square Hotel.

Milford Fire Department operates an Engine, Rescue Engine, Heavy Rescue, Brush truck, Support truck, and an ambulance. Their members respond to about 400 fire, and 700 medical calls on average a year. It is staffed entirely by volunteers from the community that they serve. New members are needed, and welcomed, to help them provide critical services for their community. No experience is necessary, and all training and equipment are provided.

We had been trusted to craft a custom challenge coin for Station 33 of the Milford Fire Department. They wanted something classic and elegant but also requested that the challenge coin be used as a bottle opener. The only graphic element that they want to show is the insignia of a Maltese Cross with the number 33 in the middle of it.

To achieve the vintage look of the coin, it is important that the brass-colored metal be finished with some gradient of black paint, brushed to the surface to mimic the color of the patina on old antiques.

The Medical And Fire Academy is where learners embark on a medical or firefighting pathway. From taking blood pressure to strapping victims to spine boards, academy students will be provided with up-to-date industry information. They will be provided the opportunity to ride with Fire/EMS units, help work community events, and complete clinical experiences within the industry.

The Bartow Senior Medical and Fire Academy is a multi-year program. Upon graduation, students will have the necessary skills and certifications for employment or continued education in the healthcare industry. The Fire Academy program students will learn about fire service and skills within the career industry. Fire Academy program completers must successfully complete: EMR, live fire burns, wildland fire S130/S190, all exams, skills, and the state firefighter task book with a passing score.

The custom challenge coin that we produced for Bartow Medical & Fire Academy was something unsophisticated and minimalistic. The design is an ordinary round-shaped metal just like a common coin, but with no etched patterns on the rim and edge, which makes the coin look slick and modern.

The logo of the Academy is inscribed and colored on the front side of the coin, and a quote of wisdom by the famous figure, Mahatma Gandhi, was printed in white on the back.

Madigan Army Medical Center Coin

Located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Madigan Army Medical Center comprises a network of Army medical facilities located in Washington and California. It is a key component of the Madigan Healthcare System and one of the largest military hospitals on the West Coast of the United States that serves more than 100,000 active duty service members, their families, and retirees.

Madigan also performs research across the entire spectrum of clinical trials, from phase I to phase IV, allowing critical safety and efficacy data to be collected for health interventions. Significant advances in clinical research on TBI and PTSD have resulted in effective and innovative evidence-based treatments, many of which have already been implemented at Madigan’s Intrepid Spirit Center.

They requested a custom challenge coin that takes the shape of their mascot, an alligator. Gators, the nickname for Madigan personnel, is represented by a muscular alligator cartoon character, designed for the coin to be crossing its arms and biting a dog tag necklace. Other than that, they wanted to put their symbols and insignias on both sides of the coin.

We tried different compositions and layouts for the coin design digitally. After we were sure that everything was in place aesthetically, we also made sure that the details and elements on the coin could be machined correctly and finished beautifully.

Law Enforcement Today, previously the largest police-owned media outlet in America, was purchased by The 1776 Project, LLC on July 4, 2023. The 1776 Project is owned by Kyle S. Reyes, who is also the founder and CEO of The Silent Partner Marketing, a national marketing agency that pledged in 2016 to donate $1 million in services to “tell the stories behind the uniforms”.

Reyes purchased the company to save the voice of law enforcement and assembled a Board of Advisors comprised of some of the heads of the largest police organizations in America. He is self-funding all of the content with the intent of continuing to share the stories of law enforcement. Eventually, funding sources will come from on-site advertising, which will be disclosed.

LET commissioned the production of their custom challenge coin to us at Embleholics. They wanted something contemporary and modern, with the classic elements that you usually find on a classic challenge coin.

We used the best materials for this coin and we went through a digital design process to make sure that the final piece would be machined flawlessly. The bare metal look of the coin, with the diamond pattern for the rim, engraved insignias and logo, all combined with the black & blue paint to achieve a modern look.
