Air National Guard Coin

The Air National Guard, also known as the Air Guard, is a federal military reserve force of the United States Air Force, as well as the air militia of each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the territories of Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. National Guard aviation stood out early in the twentieth century during a period of massive organizational and technological rise within the American military establishment.

Like the Air Force Reserve, the Air National Guard consists of citizen Airmen who train part-time, close to home, until called upon for duty. These professionals serve both federal and state governments, to assist their communities and help the Air Force guard the United States’ skies.

The custom challenge coin design that the Air National Guard of Washington requested us to craft was something simple, yet classic and elegant. They wanted the coin to be without colors and not painted whatsoever, only showing the natural shade of the base metal material, with the help of the brush finish to add depth to the overall look.

On the front sides of the coin, we engraved a relief sculpture of a soldier, and on the back, we machined some images of their insignias. Our computerized design and machinery method allowed us to create unlimited possibilities of art and design to be applied to your custom coin.

104th Engineer Company Coin

104th Engineer Company aka “Titans” was constituted on 9 March 1944 in the Army of the United States as the 1366th Engineer Dump Truck Company, and first activated on 15 March 1944 at Camp Ellis, Illinois. The unit was given accelerated training in Construction Battalion and Construction Support Operations pertaining to Dump Truck Operational Requirements. Company efforts were also directed toward equipment maintenance and movement preparation.

The 104th Engineer Company is now a part of the US Army’s Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB). The BEB provides organic engineering, military intelligence, signal, planning, and execution capabilities to the BCT. The engineering staff is responsible for coordinating engineer assets and operations for the command.

They asked us to manufacture them a one-of-a-kind custom challenge coin with a unique design. They wanted a coin with an outline shape based on an axe with a ribbon underneath. They requested that the axe be engraved in 3D and also on the back side of the coin they wanted an engraved image of a castle and some inscriptions machined on the ribbon on both sides.

You can see in the photos on the right that the result is stunning. From the simple-shaped sculpture of the axe to the detailed engraved castle on both sides, the coin was well-machined and finished properly with paint and protective layers.

2-15 Cavalry Squadron Coin

2-15 Cavalry Squadron Coin

The 15th Cavalry Regiment is a cavalry regiment of the United States Army, formed in 1901 at the Presidio of San Francisco, California. In March 1987, the Army overhauled its Combat Arms Regimental System (CARS) to restore some order to the history and lineage of its regiments.

The mission of the 2nd Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment is to transform civilian volunteers into disciple, competent, and committed Scouts ready to fight and win the nation’s wars. Their vision is that 2-15 will remain a team-oriented organization that produces the most lethal, agile, and disciplined 19O10s for the world’s number #1 Army.

We were given the opportunity to build the 2-15 Cav regiment an extraordinary custom challenge coin. It doesn’t have the shape of a normal round coin but is based on a sculpture of a soldier riding a horse. Working on a unique shape like this is always fun for us, and never have a problem with it since we have creative designers and modern machinery that can handle the process.

On the front side, the brass-colored base material was not painted, only sculpted with a computer-based milling machine and had it polished and coated for durability. On the back side, we painted most of the surface of the coin, including the small inscriptions and letterings.

Vets Helping Vets Challenge Coin

The purpose of Vets Helping Vets HQ is to assist United States veterans, their dependents, or family members who are seeking assistance acquiring benefits from the Veterans Administration and to help locate financial, material, educational, and/or physical living assistance that may be available for them at no charge to the veteran or the veteran’s family members.

Vets Helping Vets were collaborating in an event with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, which is an Association of Combat Veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who ride motorcycles as a hobby. As a registered 501 veterans charity, its mission is to support and protect those who have defended their country and their freedoms.

To memorialize the event, they asked us to build them a custom challenge coin. They wanted to have a coin with an octagonal shape, with their logos engraved on both sides of the challenge coin.

On the Vets Helping Vets side, in the middle of the octagon, we etched an unpainted relief of the POW/MIA logo, with a blue background painted, and some inscriptions over the rim. On the Combat Veterans side, we engraved their logo, a skull with an ace of spade on it, with a black & white colored US flag as the background, and some inscriptions on the rim, too.

USS Saratoga Challenge Coin

USS Saratoga Challenge Coin

USS Saratoga Challenge Coin

USS Saratoga CVA-60 (later CV-60) was named for the Battle of Saratoga, which was a decisive American victory resulting in the surrender of an entire British army of 9,000 men invading New York from Canada during the American Revolutionary War.

USS Saratoga was the second of four Forrestal-class supercarriers built for the United States Navy in the 1950s. Ordered as a “Large Aircraft Carrier”, hull number CVB-60, and reclassified as an “Attack Aircraft Carrier” (CVA-60). Commissioned in 1956, she spent most of her career in the Mediterranean but also participated during the Vietnam War, receiving one battle star for her service.

Saratoga was decommissioned in 1994 and was stored at Naval Station Newport in Newport, Rhode Island. To commemorate the event, the US Navy ordered a custom challenge coin from us. They wanted something special, a classic US Navy challenge coin, with a twist. They wanted to add a sculpture of an anchor and its chain added to the usual round shape of a coin.

Incorporating additional or unusual shapes into our normal coin was not a problem for our state-of-the-art machinery. Combining digital designs and layouts with computerized equipment with superb precision, we at Emblehlocs could create almost any kind of shape and form for your personalized products.
