Navy Recruiting Command currently maintains 26 Navy Talent Acquisition Groups (NTAG), formerly known as Navy Recruiting Districts (NRD), strategically located throughout the United States. Navy Recruiting is responsible for recruiting young men and women into the Active Duty and Naval Reserve enlisted forces. We also recruit for Officer Candidate School, and Officer Indoctrination School and process applications for Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Recruiting is a unique duty assignment, one where your contributions directly affect our Navy’s ability to man the Fleet and be fully mission-ready every day. The NTAG Houston requested a custom challenge coin to be manufactured for them. The design that they proposed to us was a classic U.S. Navy challenge coin, but it’s a bit exceptional because they wanted it to be shaped like a ship’s helm. Other than that it’s quite similar to a common USN coin design, with relief sculptures on both sides of the coin.

We ran the design through our 2D graphic designer to be applied for sampling and approval. After the computerized design was approved, we took it to our state-of-the-art machinery, and for the final touch, we applied the paint and protective coat to ensure the coin’s lastingness.
