Navy VP-47 Challenge Coin

Patrol Squadron (VP) 47, aka “The Golden Swordsmen”, is a maritime patrol squadron of the United States Navy based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA. It is a P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime aircraft squadron, labeled “The Best in the West”, VP-47 is the Navy’s Finest Maritime Patrol Squadron and continues the tradition of the best Sailors and Aircraft within the Pacific Fleet.

While deployed, VP-47 has supported several multinational exercises to help strengthen regional allied and partner relationships. The Golden Swordsmen worked with the “Tridents” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 26 to conduct operations in the waters of Central and South America, deployed early April in a partial capacity to the 4th Fleet AOR in support of Enhanced Counter Narcotics operations.

This custom challenge coin that they commissioned from us is hands-down one of the coolest challenge coins we have ever produced. They wanted to use their mascot, the Golden Swordsman, as the shape of the coin. They also want some Navy ornaments, such as the USN insignias to be applied to the design of the Swordsman’s armor. On the back side, we put a diamond plate pattern as the base, and some inscriptions and other graphics. The dark brass color finish for the armor and the golden color for the sword perfected this awesome challenge coin.
