Nampa Warehouseman Challenge Coin
Nampa is a principal city of the Boise-Nampa Metro area, which is Idaho’s largest metropolitan area and is centrally and ideally located to reach all western U.S. markets. The name “Nampa” may have come from a Shoshoni word meaning either moccasin or footprint.
Nampa is known for its successful food processing, agribusiness, and manufacturing companies, but also has attracted a large mix of retail and restaurants. This makes many warehouses built in Nampa to accommodate those businesses.
This custom challenge coin was ordered to honor the warehouseman, a person who is employed in, manages, or owns a warehouse. We were asked to build a coin design that was unique but not too complicated. A kind of classic design but with a small twist.
On the front side of the coin, we put a graphic image of a cartoon moose character wearing a top hat and smoking a pipe. The image was placed on the center of the coin, but the antlers were protruding over the edge of the coin. This side of the coin was not colored so it shows the bare color of the metal, but we applied a brushed effect to add depth to the design.
On the back side, we engraved a waving Star Spangled Banner pattern and have it colored with glossy paint. On the rims, we carved some inscriptions and left them unpainted. The result is a classic challenge coin with a small unique detail of the protruding moose’s antlers.
