Cutout Challenge Coin

With this coin we wanted to make something that represented the customer and where they originate from. With that we decided that a custom coin in the shape of the state of Alabama would be an excellent addition to the Chief’s Mess that commissioned this coin to be made. We also wanted to included the 3D deckplate texture that is often found with some custom challenge coins. Our deckplate texturing looks and feels like the actual thing–perfect for Navy cutout coins.

For being a smaller sized coin, it still came out very nice and heavy, and fit perfectly in the hand. We used a thick type high quality copper that even though it’s heavy and costlier than our zinc alloy option, and even still this allowed for us to make an inexpensive coin for the customer. Overall this cutout challenge coin turned out to be a great coin, something that someone who is from or has lived in Alabama would be proud of. We have also designed coins in the shape of many other states as well, with a detail so fine it looks every bit like the state’s shape.
