Camp Lemonnier Challenge Coin
Camp Lemonnier is the primary base of operations for U.S. Africa Command in the Horn of Africa. It provides, operates, and sustains superior service in support of combat readiness and security of ships, aircraft, detachments, and personnel for regional and combatant command requirements. It also enables operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S. and African Nation relations.
Camp Lemonnier is located next to Djibouti – Ambouli International Airport in Djibouti City, and home to the Combined Joint Task Force, the Horn of Africa. It was originally established as a garrison for the French Foreign Legion. The base was leased by Djibouti to the United States in 2002, along with the right to use the neighboring airport and port facilities.
We were commissioned to build Camp Lemonnier a custom challenge coin. They asked to create a well-designed coin that has an oval shape. They also requested some insignias and some inscriptions to be engraved on both sides of the coin.
We at Embleholics could produce almost any kind of shape imaginable due to our computerized and precise machinery. You can see that the oval shape of the coin was machined flawlessly, and all the inscriptions and graphics embossed on the surface were nicely executed, including the diamond plate pattern on the front side of the coin.
