673rd Dental Company Area Support Coin
673rd Dental Company Area Support, also called 673rd DCAS, made history by being the first Army Medical Department Multicomponent unit to be activated and deployed in support of a major campaign. They are stationed at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (Fort Lewis) in Tacoma, Washington.
The company’s campaign contribution credits include almost every major conflict since its initial activation in 1945. Among the credits are: World War II, the Korean War, the UN Summer-Fall Offensive, the Second Korean Winter, Korea Summer-Fall 1952, Third Korean Winter, and most recently Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 673rd continues to cooperate in various missions today providing dental support in every environment imaginable.
They ordered a custom challenge coin for their participation in the “America’s Premier DCAS” event, held by the Association of Army Dentistry. They wanted to have their mascot and insignias to be engraved and sculpted on both sides of the coin, along with some letterings of their name and motto encircling them.
We produced the coin from a grey-colored metal with a semi-matte finish. The paint used for the colors was only black, and some gold and cream for the sculpture. We can see the beautiful details were machined perfectly on the cougar’s sculpture.
