2-15 Cavalry Squadron Coin
The 15th Cavalry Regiment is a cavalry regiment of the United States Army, formed in 1901 at the Presidio of San Francisco, California. In March 1987, the Army overhauled its Combat Arms Regimental System (CARS) to restore some order to the history and lineage of its regiments.
The mission of the 2nd Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment is to transform civilian volunteers into disciple, competent, and committed Scouts ready to fight and win the nation’s wars. Their vision is that 2-15 will remain a team-oriented organization that produces the most lethal, agile, and disciplined 19O10s for the world’s number #1 Army.
We were given the opportunity to build the 2-15 Cav regiment an extraordinary custom challenge coin. It doesn’t have the shape of a normal round coin but is based on a sculpture of a soldier riding a horse. Working on a unique shape like this is always fun for us, and never have a problem with it since we have creative designers and modern machinery that can handle the process.
On the front side, the brass-colored base material was not painted, only sculpted with a computer-based milling machine and had it polished and coated for durability. On the back side, we painted most of the surface of the coin, including the small inscriptions and letterings.
