Seattle Police K9 Coin
The Seattle Police Department has long used dogs’ keen sense of smell to search for suspects, inspect suspicious items, or detect hidden evidence. Their sharp sense of smell is noteworthy. Breeds like German shepherds (and other similar breeds) have an estimated 220 million olfactory sensory cells in their noses, while a human only has about five million. They are ideal for police work due to their intelligence, obedience, loyalty, and, of course, their acute sense of smell.
SPD’s Canine aka K9 Unit is a versatile Unit made up of highly-trained K9 teams equipped to perform a variety of jobs. There are different types of canine dogs working for Seattle PD: Patrol/Generalist Dogs, Narcotics Dogs, Bomb Detection Dogs, and Electronic Storage Detection Dogs.
The Seattle PD K9 Unit ordered this custom challenge coin to honor the service of these dogs. The design was a shield-shaped coin, with some graphic elements engraved on both sides. They also requested the use of their colors, which are black, blue, and white.
The first step in crafting a challenge coin is to have the design or layout digitally so the computerized equipment can read it and do the magic. Digital design is also used to make design mock-ups, so our client can see different alternatives and options. Our state-of-the-art machinery can read complex patterns or textures so the design choices of your custom product could go as far as your imagination.
