AFOSI Detachment 613 Coin
AFOSI or The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is a field operating agency with headquarters at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. The agency reports to the Inspector General, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force. By federal statute, AFOSI provides independent criminal investigative, counterintelligence, and protective service operations worldwide and outside of the traditional military chain of command.
The United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations was founded in 1948 at the suggestion of Congress to consolidate investigative activities in the Air Force. Secretary of the Air Force W. Stuart Symington created AFOSI as a Field Operating Agency and patterned it after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Proactively, AFOSI identifies, investigates, and neutralizes serious criminal, terrorist, and espionage threats to personnel and resources of the Air Force, Space Force, and the U.S. Department of Defense, thereby protecting the national security of the United States.
AFOSI Detachment 613 came to us to build their custom challenge coin. They wanted something classy but down-to-earth, without using many colors. They asked us to put their engraved insignia on one side, and the image of the wolf mascot on the other. This simple yet elegant coin was finished with a shiny chrome-like layer.
