Brook Park Police Coin
Brook Park is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, with a population of 18,595. The city attracted national attention when 21 Marines of the 3rd battalion, 25th Marines Regiment, and 4th Marine division headquartered in the city were killed in combat in Iraq on August 1 and August 3, 2005. The unit lost 48 Marines during the course of the deployment.
The Police Department of Brook Park ordered us this classic custom challenge coin. The primary mission of the Brook Park Police Department is to provide high-quality services to its citizens with an emphasis on improving the quality of life in its community by promoting a safe environment.
The design idea was simple and straightforward, they wanted a normal challenge coin but customized with their police insignia shown on one side and the image of Saint Michael, the Patron Saint of Police Officers and Law Enforcement. They also asked to have the coin finished in gold, silver, blue, and red colors.
While the basic elements of the coin are quite standard, the image of Saint Michael and the police department insignia needed to be carefully engraved and sculpted, because it has so many details and textures. The nicely machined graphics and letterings can be seen clearly if you zoom the photos of the coin.
