PSNS SurgeMain MOB Coin
The US Navy commissioned this coin to honor the personnel of PSNS, SurgeMain and MOB. Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) provides our Navy with high quality, on-time maintenance, modernization, recycling, and support that helps assure America’s dominance at sea. PSNS & IMF is the Pacific Northwest’s largest Naval shore facility and one of Washington State’s largest industrial installations.
SurgeMain, short for “Surge Maintenance,” is made up of a part-time, flexible, fully qualified maintenance workforce. These teams of reserve component Sailors become a mobilization force when the Navy needs to “surge” its maintenance infrastructure to support fleet readiness and the Fleet Response Plan. And MOB stands for Mobility-Engineering.
This custom challenge coin that we built has two different sides in terms of theme and style. One side has a monochromatic sculpted anchor symbol of the US Navy and has an official feel to it, while the other side has a colorful cartoon image of a snowman, and looks very leisurely.
Both of the graphics are encircled with some inscribed letterings on the unpainted and uncarved coin base material. All the engravings were done perfectly as you can see in the USN anchor and the colors on the snowman image were also applied beautifully.
