Fairmont Olympic Hotel Coin

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, formerly known as The Olympic Hotel, is a historic hotel in downtown Seattle, Washington. In 2019 it celebrated its 95th Birthday, and in 2020 it started a renovation project handled by Abbott Construction. This recent renovation is the last stage of a series of projects to update the Fairmont Olympic. In 2016, the hotel spent $25 million to remodel guest rooms and corridors. Construction on the most recent phase, which cost an additional $25 million, began in January 2020. This is the first part of a “grand restoration;” the updated lobby, bar, and event spaces will be unveiled officially on April 30, 2021.

This Custom Challenge Coin is made to commemorate the start of the renovation in 2020. They wanted a commemorative coin that represent the history and the luxury of Fairmont Olympic Hotel, and also to honor their collaboration with Abbot Construction. So the concept is straightforward: The image of the hotel is etched on one side of the coin, and the Abbot Construction logo on the other. The result was an exquisite and flawlessly-crafted coin.
