IAFF Challenge Coin
This custom challenge coin was commissioned to us by the Clearwater Paper Fire Department. Clearwater Paper Corporation is a pulp and paper product manufacturer that was created on December 9, 2008, via a spin-off from the real estate investment trust (REIT) company Potlatch Corporation. With its headquarters in Spokane, Washington, the new company started with four locations for the manufacture of bleached paperboard, consumer tissue, and wood products.
The Clearwater Paper Fire Department is the member of IAFF or The International Association of Fire Fighters, which the mission is to fight for better wages, benefits, working conditions and improved safety for union members. The IAFF has also pushed for more full-time union firefighters. The IAFF has more than 316,000 members in its more than 3,200 affiliate organizations.
The wanted something classy, elegant and timeless look for their challenge coin. Our choice of base material, type of finish and the kind of graphics & images applied would determine if we can achieve that. We chose copper colored metal as the base material of the coin, brushed for burnt visual effect. For the elements of aesthetic, we put the IAFF logo engraved on one side, and another similar kind of emblem on the other, with only two colors of paint used. The end result, as you can see for yourself, is a gorgeous antique-looking challenge coin.
