Navy Command Challenge Coin

ACCRON ONE TWO ZERO or Airborne Command & Control Squadron (VAW) 120, also called the ‘Greyhawks’, is a United States Navy Fleet Replacement Squadron responsible for training crews on the E-2 Hawkeye and the C-2 Greyhound. Its mission is to fly and train Naval Aviators, Naval Flight Officers, and Naval Aircrewmen to safely and effectively operate E-2 and C-2 aircraft, preparing them to join the fleet.

They wanted us to design and produce a custom challenge coin which will be awarded by their Commanding Officer. They wanted something classy, elegant but minimalistic in design. And they also want this challenge coin to function as bottle opener. While designing something simple could sound like an effortless work, it’s the fine points that needed more attention than usual. Especially with the bottle opener opening in the middle of the coin, the options to arrange the graphics and the texts is limited. What we needed to do is to make sure that every details in the engraved graphics and text are well executed because the dimensions could not be large enough.

We are very satisfied with the result. The minimalistic look of Black & Gold colors radiates classic and elegant vibe, and the bottle opener blends in perfectly with the entire layout of the design.
