The ‘CUC Operation Wave Runner’ is an undercover investigation that has received formal written certification from a high-ranking official within the United States’ Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
A Certified Undercover Operation (CUC) is an undercover investigation that has received formal written certification from a high-ranking official within HSI. This certification is necessary when the operation involves actions that require exemptions under specific U.S. laws. These exemptions allow undercover agents to engage in activities like establishing front businesses, leasing property, or conducting financial transactions that would otherwise be restricted, all in the interest of national security or law enforcement objectives.
The challenge coin that we built for them to commemorate the operation is an extraordinary one. As opposed to a round-shaped conventional coin, this one is shaped like a bank note. On one side, it has an embossed image of a one-dollar bill, and on the other, they requested a graphical design that represents the operation to be applied to.
Before our high-technology machine manufactured the coin from the base material, we had our team of designers create the digital version of the layout so the design could be applied with minimum errors and with the highest complexities. The small engravings and lettering could be engraved down to the smallest details by our state-of-the-art equipment.
