Embleholics offers gold, silver, nickel, copper and black nickel plating, plus four antique finishes (antique gold, antique silver, antique copper and antique brass) and a choice of polished, matte or dual plating.

  • Polished platings. Gold, silver, nickel, copper and black nickel. Bright, reflective, and best at making enamel colors pop. Gold and silver are the traditional choices. Black nickel gives a dark, modern look that suits tactical and special operations designs.
  • Antique finishes. Antique gold, antique silver, antique copper and antique brass. An oxidized layer is applied and then polished back off the raised surfaces, so the dark residue stays in the recesses. The effect is to deepen engraved detail, because the dark recesses read as shadow against the bright raised surfaces. If your design relies on line work, texture or 3D relief rather than color, antique is usually the better choice.
  • Matte. A low-sheen version, understated and non-reflective.
  • Dual plating. Two different platings on the same coin, most often gold and silver, used to separate elements of the design. It costs more but adds real visual depth.

A general rule: color-heavy designs look best on polished plating, detail-heavy designs look best antiqued.
