The Notre Dame Naval ROTC program is one of the most historic and prestigious officer commissioning programs in the United States. It’s a unique partnership between the University of Notre Dame, Holy Cross College, and the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Established in 1941, just before the U.S. entered World War II, Notre Dame was essentially transformed into a massive naval training facility.

This custom challenge coin was made for the Assistant Professor of Naval Science, who is a U.S. Navy Officer who is assigned to teach and mentor college students in the Naval ROTC program at the University of Notre Dame. Their main job is to teach the Naval Science curriculum to the Midshipmen (the students in the NROTC program). This is not just about military tactics; it includes a wide range of subjects critical to a naval officer’s education.

We manufactured an elegant and timeless custom challenge coin for them. Matte gold-colored metal is used as the base material, and we applied high-quality enamel paints for their logo and the small insignias embossed on both sides of the coin. The rims of the coin were not filled with patterns, just clean lines, which give an unsophisticated look to the overall design.

You can see in the photos how tiny the insignias on the back side are. Our avant-garde equipment and machinery can achieve this level of detail, so you don’t have to worry about putting small letters or images on your coins or medals if you order them at Embleholics. Our team of experienced designers and fabricators will help make your ideas into reality.
