The ‘NA SDI Engineering Practice’ is the internal engineering standards and procedures used by a specific company’s North America Solutions Deployment and Integration (NA SDI) division, a role within Motorola Solutions. This specifies the regional context, meaning the practices are based on codes, standards, and conventions used primarily in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In essence, ‘NA SDI Engineering Practice’ means designing and detailing steel deck systems according to the methods endorsed by the SDI and in compliance with the building codes and structural engineering standards of North America. It’s a mark of quality and reliability, ensuring that all parties involved in a construction project are working from the same set of rules.
We were chosen to craft a custom challenge coin for the people involved in the North America SDI division. They requested a modern coin with a contemporary look and finish. While the shape of the coin was standard, they wanted the design to be graphical and colorful.
On the front side, we put their logo with its original colors of sky blue, black, and dark grey. And on the back side, they requested us to have their divisions’ symbols embossed and colored in black, with a range of solid colors as the backgrounds for each symbol.
Our team of experienced graphic designers did the whole design digitally, before it was approved by the client and delivered to our fabrication team. The computerized state-of-the-art machinery we have at our workshop will convert the digital images into the final product, as you can see in the photos.
