VBI, or Vendor to Bill of Lading Indicator, is a code that tells the system who created and is managing the shipment. A VBI shipment is one where the vendor is responsible for arranging the transportation from their facility to a specified military destination. They create the Bill of Lading and contract with the carrier.

A ‘Record Drop’ is the specific action or status that means the vendor (or the vendor’s transportation representative) has created the initial shipment record in the ISGFM system and then “dropped” it or submitted it.

It’s like filling out an online form and hitting the “Submit” button. The “Record Drop” is that submission. At this point, the shipment now officially exists in the military’s tracking system, it has a unique Transportation Control Number (TCN), and the military logistics personnel can now see that a vendor-managed shipment is pending, but it has not yet been physically picked up or moved.

The custom challenge coin that we made for VBI was something radiant and luxurious. While the design concept was pretty ordinary, and nothing was out of the box, the monochromatic copper-colored finish that we applied to the coin made it look aesthetically delicate.

Our computerized, avant-garde equipment and machinery at our workshop can achieve many kinds of cuts, curves, and textures to be applied to the material that we use for our products. You can see in this coin that we applied different finishes on the surfaces to create depth to the design.

If you have an idea for a monochromatic coin, medal, or other item that you want to build for your team or company, bring it to us at Embleholics, and we’ll help you to turn it into a memorable memento.
