USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127) is a Flight IIA Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer currently under construction, set to be homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. The ship is named after Corporal Patrick “Bob” Gallagher, an Irish-born U.S. Marine Corps hero in the Vietnam War. The ship was christened at Bath Iron Works shipyard on 27 July 2024.

“Bob’s Goat Locker” is the enlisted Chief Petty Officer’s mess or quarters in USS Patrick Gallagher. A Goat Locker is a private space reserved for Chiefs. Non-Chief personnel are expected to remove their hat and knock before entering. The nickname has its roots in when goats were a part of the ship’s crew and lived alongside the senior enlisted personnel.

We had the opportunity to create one of the coolest custom challenge coins we’ve ever built. They requested a coin that was designed like a beer or brew beverage logo. It’s an elliptical-shaped coin, with one side stylized with beverage brand graphics and inscriptions, and the other with insignias of the US Navy.

The level of detail achieved on the engravings shown in the photos was done by our team of graphic designers, and the accuracy of our cutting-edge production machinery in our workshop. From the clean cut of the sculpted graphics to the tiny inscriptions, to the glossy paint finish, makes the coin look shiny and elegant.
