The USS New Jersey (SSN-796) is a Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine in the United States Navy. It is the third U.S. Navy vessel named after the state of New Jersey. The submarine was commissioned on September 14, 2024, at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Middletown, New Jersey.
The USS New Jersey is notable for being the first U.S. Navy attack submarine designed and constructed to accommodate a mixed-gender crew. Modifications include separate sleeping and bathing areas, lowered overhead valves for easier access, and steps for bunk beds and stacked laundry machines.
Commander Ronald Simmons is the current Commanding Officer of the USS New Jersey, a Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine in the United States Navy, and we had the honor to craft the challenge coin that was awarded to him by the U.S. Navy. It’s such a handsome, classic-looking challenge coin on one side, but with a splash of contemporary illustration of the submarine on the other.
The base idea of design was laid out by our team of graphic designers and has gone through several changes and adjustments to make sure that everything is well-placed and can be executed by our cutting-edge machinery to achieve perfection in the final product. The result, as you can see from the photos, is an elegant and artistic challenge coin.
