For this firefighter custom challenge coin, the goal was to create a design that represented both the firefighting community and the specific area where the battalion served.
The customer provided us with a basic illustration, which gave our artists a starting point for the finished design. The front of the coin highlights the battalion’s fire truck, while the surrounding artwork helps connect the design to the area where the unit operated. The reverse incorporates additional locations and details that were important to the battalion and its history.
Fire trucks, station buildings, apparatus, department patches, local landmarks, and other recognizable elements can all be incorporated into a custom coin. When reference images are available, our artists can use them to create artwork that preserves the features that make a particular truck, building, or location recognizable.
