SpaceX’s SN1100 has appeared in context where it clearly refers to a part, and it has been mentioned in relation to Raptor engine components. The SpaceX Raptor engine is a revolutionary piece of propulsion technology and a cornerstone of SpaceX’s ambition to make humanity a multi-planetary species. It’s the engine that powers the Starship system, both the Super Heavy booster and the Starship spacecraft itself.
Raptor uses Methane (CH₄) as its fuel and Liquid Oxygen (LOX) as its oxidizer. Before the Raptor, no full-flow staged combustion engine had ever flown operationally. It is a monumental achievement in engineering. Its full-flow staged combustion cycle, use of methalox propellant for Mars colonization, incredible performance, and design-for-reusability make it the enabling technology for the Starship system and, potentially, the future of deep space exploration.
Elon Musk has often spoken about the ultimate goal: building 1,000 Starships to carry people and cargo to Mars and create a self-sustaining city. A fleet of 100 Super Heavy boosters would be the essential Earth-launch workhorse for that entire architecture.
We had the opportunity to build a custom challenge coin that commemorates the ‘SN1100’ for SpaceX. While usually they asked us to create something modern and contemporary-looking, for this one, they asked for something classic and has a vintage vibe to it. Finished with a shining gold-colored layer for the base, and some high-quality enamel paints for the colored images.
Our coins were produced with an avant-garde technology that could create many imaginable shapes, forms, images & letters. Feel free to send us your ideas, and we’ll help you with each step to make it a reality.
