An honor coin, another moniker for a challenge coin, is a small, custom-made coin or medallion that represents membership, achievement, or camaraderie within an organization, group, or event. Honor coins are typically made of metal (brass, bronze, or nickel), about the size of a poker chip, and engraved or embossed with logos, slogans, mottos, or insignia
These coins are traditionally given to individuals as a token of appreciation, recognition, or respect. Receiving an honor coin is often seen as a meaningful gesture that builds morale and reinforces a sense of belonging or accomplishment. Originally used in the military, where commanders would present them to troops for exceptional service or as a symbol of unit identity.
We had an opportunity to create an unorthodox challenge coin, with a simple and clean vibe, only the word ‘INTEGRITY’ embossed on one side of the coin, and a painting of a sunset on a beach on the other. The challenge for this coin is that the painting needs to have a 3D-feel, meaning that the images should be carved as a relief before we apply the colors.
Our high-tech equipment can achieve the desired look of this coin by engraving the elements inside the painting with different depths, so it was turned into a relief. Our machinery can also apply colors with a virtually limitless level of gradation, as you can find in oil painting or photos.
If you would like your painting or photo to be turned into a memento, such as a challenge coin or a belt buckle, feel free to contact us at Embleholics.
