The Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB), 224th, “Titans” is a specialized combat engineering unit within the California Army National Guard. The 224th has a history dating back to earlier engineer units, and its current designation reflects its place in the U.S. Army’s order of battle.
The unit is part of the state militia of California, under the command of the Governor, but can also be federalized and deployed by the President for national missions. Its members are traditionally “Citizen-Soldiers” who serve part-time while maintaining civilian careers. A BEB provides dedicated engineering support to the maneuver brigade.
The Titans wanted a custom challenge coin to be awarded to their personnel, and we were given the task to design and manufacture it. They requested something extraordinary and unique, as opposed to having a normal round coin, they asked us to design their challenge coin in the shape of a battle axe.
Our team of seasoned graphic artists laid out the base design after we heard the brief from our client. The design process went through some stages of consultation before it was approved and handed to our production team. The 2D digitally-made design will be read by our computerized and sophisticated machinery to be applied to the base material that we use for the coin.
They also requested that their logo, a castle, be embossed on one side, and a relief of a golden battle axe on the other side. You can see in the photos that all the curves and angles were nicely executed by our production team.
Our workshop at Embleholics can create virtually any shape and form, only limited by your imagination.
