The customer is responsible. Holding the rights to use a logo, insignia, badge or seal sits with whoever supplies the artwork, not with the coin manufacturer.

This is standard across custom manufacturing and it isn’t a technicality. A coin supplier has no visibility into your organization’s internal approvals, no standing to request permission on your behalf, and no way to verify that a unit crest or company logo has been cleared. Embleholics manufactures to the artwork provided, on the basis that you’re authorized to provide it.

What that means for you:

  • Unit and service insignia: clear it through your chain of command or the relevant service trademark office
  • Department badges and agency seals: clear it through your chief’s office, legal counsel or public information officer
  • Company logos: clear it through brand, marketing or communications
  • Third-party and licensed IP: sports teams, film and TV properties, and commercial brands you do not own are generally not usable

For most orders this is already done before anyone contacts a supplier. It is worth checking anyway, because asking now is far cheaper than discovering a problem after 200 coins are struck.

Most suppliers avoid this question entirely. See our terms and conditions for the full position, or get in touch if you are unsure about your artwork.
