Allow at least 10 to 12 weeks before the event. That figure is built from the stages rather than pulled from the air.
Working backwards: 45 to 50 days of production after artwork approval is roughly 7 weeks on its own. Initial artwork comes back within 12 to 48 hours, but approval rounds through a chain of command take far longer than the artwork does. Add shipping. Then add two weeks of slack for the approval nobody anticipated.
The slack is not padding. Unit coin projects move at the speed of whoever is holding the approval, and a proof sent during a pre-deployment workup will not come back quickly.
For deployments specifically, start earlier than feels necessary. Pre-deployment schedules compress without warning, and the people who need to approve the design are the same people running the workup. If coins are travelling with the unit rather than following it, your shipping window closes before the departure date does.
If the unit has already moved, coins can be shipped to APO and FPO addresses, though transit is slower than domestic delivery.
Tell us the event date when you first make contact rather than after the design is agreed, and we will confirm the schedule against it.
